Come in if you make girls hair accessories

I have started to make hair clips for my daughters because it can get expensive to buy for the 2 little ones.  (don't worry...I have zero desire to open up an etsy shop) I've been practicing boutique bows but I am now wondering if anyone has any tips on making pony-o's.  The only tutorials that I have found are to make the cheer ones with ribbons.  I'd like to attach some fabric appliqu?s or buttons but am not sure of the best way to attach them.  Also, I am looking for ideas on storing my ribbons, appliqu?s and spare clips.  Since my stash is for personal use I don't need anything huge.  Right now I have a bunch of small ziplock bags inside of a big one.

Thank you!

  • I have no idea what a pony-o is lol. Can you PIP an example of what you're wanting to do?

I have a lot of ribbon and I store all my ribbon and stuff in totes like these:

(this isn't the exact ones because I buy them at Wal-Mart, but they're short and not very big)

I have 3 with spools, sorted by color, then one with seasonal. I have a 5th that has stuff to embellish (satin for satin flowers, headbands, buttons, the clips, thread & needles, etc.).

  • A pony-o is just a pony tail holder with some sort of added embellishment.

  • Wow that pic is huge! Sorry.  I still have trouble posting pics from my iPad.
  • Oh, okay!

If you use felt ones, you could try using hot glue or you could use some coordinating thread and sew it onto the elastic. I'm not sure what would work best, since I've never made any of those.

  • Sew it on by hand. Like OP I store every thing in plastic storage bins and plastic drawer systems
