Hello.....winter?

This is what we are dealing with here:

image

It snowed ALL DAY yesterday.  B shovelled our driveway/sidewalk when he left for work.  I did it again 2 hours later when I went to strollersize.   I shovelled again last night and there was probably a good 4 inches at least and the same again this morning!  And, it is still snowing and pretty windy so we are getting some major drifts.  I thought spring was supposed to be on its way.

We had a really mild winter, and temperatures are still warm here just slightly below freezing yesterday.  I know I shouldn't be surprised living in Alberta, but this is nuts!

Re: Hello.....winter?

  • That is nuts but oh so pretty!  We are dealing with temps in the upper 70's today.  I'm loving our weather right now.  We're supposed to get rain tomorrow.

  • The high today is 76 (24.5 celcius) which is unheard of in March.  I'm loving it!  The average temp is around 50 (10 celcius).  We are supposed to get rain in the next couple of days too, which is fine because we need it.

My tulips and daffodils are coming up and I know they are going to get frost bit before they bloom.  It is so sad when that happens.

Thanks for doing the Celsius conversion for me!  I seriously have no clue when it comes to Fahrenheit.  My grandma always uses it still and I'm clueless.

Glad it helps you!  I always have to do the conversion online.

  • That's what we had here last week and now our yard is still covered with snow! There were daffodils coming up outside of the school, that are also now covered with snow. But it's supposed to be in the 60's towards the end of this week, so hopefully it all melts away!

  • I know I wouldn't be saying this if it was snowing here, but I'm kind of jealous!
  • The weather has been crazy. It is supposed to be 30 degrees warmer on Thursday then it was yesturday. I am ok with that!

I'm really jealous! We haven't had any real snow, Winter just hasn't been the same w/o a snowstorm. :(

  • I have a conversion widget on my macbook that I always use to convert the temps.

We have been above 0 C a lot this winter, which is unheard of.  Starting tomorrow and for a week straight we are supposed to be around the 7 Celsius mark, which is high 40's F.   Nuts.

  • We got that a few days ago, and it was mixed with rain, so the roads were horrible the next morning. But our temperature is supposed to be 10C by friday so maybe it will all melt. This winter has truly been crazy.

  • We are bouncing between 80 and 60 (or like 16 and 26 C, I think)... not as varied as a lot of areas but still seems up and down for us Southern Californians.... we also have a LOT of colds going around... a lot of my friends and a lot of my students are sick.... We always have mild winters, lol, but it's been even more mild than usual... VERY little rain (nooot so good for us) and warmer temperatures than usual... hoooooping that doesn't mean a torturously HOT summer!!!

  • You shut your mouth Smile

I miss the Palm Springs weather.  You could probably tell we were the crazy Canadians outside in our tank tops and shorts when it was only 60 F!

  • Tank tops in 60s... yeah, not normal for most Californians. Me personally, when it's 60, I'm in a light sweater and jeans... but still with my flip flops unless it's raining... I hate closed shoes, lol.

You make me LOL, Lindsay, hehe! Glad you enjoyed it... it's a bit warmer in Palm Springs than here by the beach... I reallly want to go out there on one of these 85 degree weekends and suntan!! I need SUNNNN and WARMTHHH, it's in my California blood, hehe. Come back anytime! I'll keep the sunshine ready for you!!

  • Haha! This is too funny, because when we were in Arizona and swimming in the lake in October, the Americans we were with thought we were crazy! It was warmer than our lakes get in the middle of summer, so we were happy to swim in the 'cold' water.

  • People in Northern KY woke up to that on Monday morning.... except that on Friday they were dealing with mid-70s temperatures and tornadoes.  This winter is weird.

I agree! 24.5 degrees is pretty much mild summer weather to me. It's supposed to go up to 13 degrees tomorrow here, which is unheard of. But there is still a lot of snow on the ground.
