A ridiculous H&FR pregnancy question
What's the rule on inversions?
We do a fair amount of inverted work at CrossFit--handstand push-ups, wall climbs, kickovers, etc--and it was on the board today. I was kind of like "hmm, maybe I should ask about that." FWIW, I did this stuff regularly before getting pregnant and did a few today and felt fine. And I never hold the poses for very long, mostly because I can't.
I have an OB appointment on Thursday but I feel a little ridiculous asking if I can do handstands.

i would treat handstands like core work since its so engaging. i know its OK to continue your core routine in 1st trimester, however i do think there is a point when you are supposed to stop - i cant remember the specifics, so that is a very non-ridiculous question you should ask your OB.
i found during my pregnancy that my body really spoke to me. i quit doing certain activities as it progressed just because it no longer felt "right".
Personally I didnt do any inversions at all during my pregnancy (although I think you can after the first trimester). I agree with what Gumi said in that I just listened to my body...and dont worry, there is no such thing as a silly question when it comes to your pregnancy and Im sure your OB would agree!
zachary happens!
This. Your body is smart. Listen to it
both my girls loved inversions when I was pregnant. It made them "right side up" and they always got really kicky and active.
That being said, I always did inversions with someone's hands on my ankles as well (once I got a noticeable stomach) just for support and an extra measure of safety.
And what others have said about listening to your body is so true. You'll know when something feels right or wrong. With Eliza, I did pilates until 36 weeks and what felt good and what felt not so good changed from week to week.
