Here's something fun (you just have to remember that I live in Texas). We're invited to H's coworker's wedding in April. We've hung out in the past and figure we can go and have a good time. We got the invite a little while back and at the bottom is written, "Attire: Casual western".
Now, this is very much their style (though I believe she has a traditional dress, not sure what the guys will be wearing in the wedding party). My question is: how casual is too casual? I was thinking jeans and a nice shirt (might even throw on my cowboy boots so I fit in). What do you think? Also, would a white shirt be inappropriate?
Re: Wedding attire opinions
I'd wear a sundress and boots.
This. Jeans seem too casual (and even if it's not, I'd rather be one of the better dressed than clumped into the uber casual group).

I would slap you for that. Ok.....I'd want to slap you but wouldn't actually do it.
That made me LOL. I feel like if I wear a dress and boots I'm making it a costume party. I also hate hate hate that particular combo (in case you couldn't tell by my comment to Bowies). Maybe I'll go with a somewhat dressier pant. I just don't understand a casual western wedding.
Why? I think it's cute.
We went to a wedding in Montana and all the women from around there were wearing boots with their dresses. They do it on the regular.
How do you live in Texas and NOT wear dresses with boots? I mean, what do you wear to the saloon and the rodeo????
When I read this thread I totally pictured you as looking like Jessie from Toy Story:
If Pinterest has taught me anything, it is that dresses and boots are expected attire for Texas milestone events.
Also, how to make a bun with a sock.
Thank you!!
I don't do it partly because I spent the first 23 years of my life in Wisconsin, but mostly because it's just not right. Boots are meant to be worn with jeans (which is what I've done for each rodeo I've been to and will do again on March 17 when I attend again. There are far too many people down here that think it's cute to wear their boots with dresses, skirts, daisy dukes, or nike running shorts for that matter. I will not be one of them. I think H would divorce me for that. Ok, not really, but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't let me leave the house like that unless it was a costume of some sort.
You guys are weird. Dresses with boots are farking adorable.
Also, do not wear GD PANTS to a wedding. Are you a gym teacher? For the love of god.
You are pregnant, cute, and it's a special occasion, so you should be rocking an adorable dress. Skip the boots if you are really that fired up about it, but since they specifically said to wear "western" attire, I don't see what other footwear would be appropriate.
LOL...yes, I've never seen anyone here in Wisconsin wear boots with a sundress or any dress unless it's a little girl playing dress-up. I don't even see women wear boots around here.
Because it is cute!
I'll give you the running shorts and whatnot, but boots are totally cute with dresses. We should do a poll.
BBE, your job is to find me a dress (preferably at Motherhood Maternity, since there's one in town) that won't make me look like a whale instead of a cute pregnant lady. Baby doll anything usually doesn't work well for me, but I can give it a shot.
Broc, you make a good point about the costume party. But it's still someone's wedding and I don't want to make it seem costume-y.
Also, I know about Motherhood, but I live in a college town and they apparently think no one ever has children here. Ever.
I have seriously been looking all this time. Maternity dress options SUCK.
I will keep my eyes peeled for you missy.
You don't have awesome options. At all. How do people do this?
What about these?
