DH's Aunt's birthday is on Friday. We're celebrating on Sunday.
I don't know what to get her. She's single and travels for work, she has always had Boxer dogs (DH's grandparents/mother watch her dog when she's OOT). Her house is filled with Boxer-related accessories.
Oh, and she's anti-love. She was engaged many years ago and a few days before Christmas her FI's mistress called and she answered so... part of me doesn't like her (since she doesn't seem happy for anyone in a relationship and is a big buzzkill around Christmas. Flame away).
I tried flowers once. She didn't acknowledge them. Any ideas? Should I try to go with a Boxer-type gift or do you think she has enough? (Her family generally gets her clothes)
Re: Bday gift idea for 51-y/o single Boxer owner?
I think 51 is an odd b-day to be celebrating with nieces/nephews, even if you are really close. Do you attend a yearly b-day gathering for this women? Between H and I we have 14 (blood) aunts/uncles. I cant imagine celebrating each of their b-days and having to get gifts!
If you feel obligated to get something I would do a card and like $10 starbucks gift card or bottle of wine.
I never celebrated birthdays with aunts/uncles except for when I was little. DH's family is small and celebrate everything together (his grandparents had 5 kids. Only 2 are married/with kids and out of those 2 only 1 lives in state. The other visits for Thanksgiving, New Years, Easter, and in the summer). So yeah.. they do everything together basically.
And she doesn't drink.
UGHHH. The only reason I feel obligated is because she's given me gifts in the past.
I like this idea best.
But I think I'll go with Liz's idea... or at least look into it. It's the thought that counts.
