is there a way to get petfinder to pull a posting if it's not a rescue

but is a shady-shady shady broker?

In my quest to find a small, young-ish, 'designer mix' (I know, I know, this isn't for me!) rescue dog, local to me (see last ngith's rant), I came across one that google claims to be a broker and they have a high-ish adoption fee and convieniently have a constant, ready supply of  young designer puppies.

(on that topic, want to see if you agree w/ my assessment?

)

On the plus side, they sputer the dogs. And in theory, screen their applicants (ask for references, etc)

Re: is there a way to get petfinder to pull a posting if it's not a rescue

  • I don't think the website "proves it" enough to get petfinder to pull it (if there is a way). The about us section claims the work to pull from puppy mills when there are rejected dogs, so they are already admitting they are puppy mill dogs, but apparently rescued from euthanization for one reason or the other.

ETA: but PS, I am highly suspicious too

  • Honestly, I think this site is 100x's better than the one posted yesterday - which looked like a backyard breeder.

It is better...not 100% but better.

But I'm trying to find a 'good' place to send her--preferably w/ a picture of a puppy she'll fall in love with.  Because that's the sort of person she is.  So I was scouring petfinder)

(and honestly, she's a marvelous pet-owner.   I think once she owns them, teh petsies would love her and that her pets are more spoiled than mine)

PS, I just told the Mr/ to send her this:

    http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/22396632

Because if that can't suckerpunch her into love, nothing can :-P

They cute puppy picture should work - the cute puppy picture always works, right? :D

The puppy you linked me to is in Michigan - is she from MI? Or just looking for a dog from MI? Or does the just happen to be where this puppy is?

she's in MI--if you know of something perfect, I'm open to sending it on :)

I know at the moment, she's biased toward a young puppy (I think she's making a mistake there...but that's jut my opinion.  I don't worry about the puppy but she has forgotten what having a puppy is like.  She and Dawg had *major* issues when Dawg was a puppy because Dawg behaved like...well, a puppy)

She has a cat (a very active one, much like my La Doof Kitton--a troublemaker cat).  She needs a dog good w/ small children.

She wants a small dog/lapdog.  Grooming needs are immaterial, they have a lot of space for a dog to play (but no fence--yet) and she would say exercise doesn't matter but a dog w/o an insanely high energy level would be a plus IMO (again, my opinion based on what *I* think would work for her, nt what she thinks she wants--her old dog always got enough exercise but I think because it was pretty 'self excrcising')

(What she's convinced she wants is a 'daisy dog' (bichon, poodle, shih-tzu mix)..so anything that resembles a designer mutt would be up her alley)

  • I'm in MI, too. I'll keep my eyes open. And I always need an excuse to be on petfinder. :D

ETA:  The cute, white, fuzzy puppy from the second link posted.

  • Found one so far!

Make sure to read the description on this pup!  I think the story, although short - might tug on some heart strings!

While I love all three of these breeds individually, this mix sounds like a neurotic hot mess.  (No offense meant to anyone who has this approximate mix).

But on the other hand, that PF puppy you posted is freakishly adorable.

Sounds like that sort of mess to me too.

She has been convinced by some list of 'best small dogs with kids' that this is dabomb.

Im guessing some daisy-dog-irresponsible-breeder has paid to put them on that list.

(and tiki has been sent to the Mr. too)
  • When we were looking for a second dog we checked out clyde-a-scope.  We almost "adopted" a beagle/english bulldog mix from there.  I googled the rescue and read a bunch of people claiming she buys the dogs from amish puppy mills and then "adopts" them out for $350.  She always has puppies, no adult dogs.  Kinda fishy if you ask me.  We decided to get our dog some where else.

  • Oh, and we were approved before she even met us, saw our house, or checked any references.  Totally odd for a rescue!
