Lake Como or Cinque Terre?
DH and I have a conference in Rome in September. As our 10th wedding anniversary is 4 days before the start of the conference, we are renewing our wedding vows in Positano before we head up to Rome for the conference.
After the conference we are spending a week in Tuscany and then 4 days in Venice. We have 3-4 days after that before we fly home from Rome.
We can't decided between Lake Como and Cinque Terre. We've never been to either.
Any advice/suggestions please?

If you're also going to the Amalfi coast, then I'd go to the lakes.
I'd also look more closely at spending four days in Venice. I've been there twice and both times was ready to be done after a day.
I was underwhelmed by Como, but I did like Maggiore. Of course, I only day tripped to both of those (when visiting my sister who was living in Milan), so that could be part of it.
However, I agree with Knitty that if you're already doing the amalfi coast, the lakes would be a better contrast, even if I loved CT. Although, tbh, one of my favorite things about CT was the 2 day trip I took up to Torino when the gray rains cancelled my CT hiking plans.
We just went to Lake Como in October and loved it (at least when it wasn't foggy... the fog kind of ruins the pretty views lol). You probably can't go wrong either way though. We stayed in Bellagio because we got a killer deal on a nice hotel room there. Then we just took the ferry to all of the other towns nearby. We did a cooking class at Ristorante Il Caminetto, and it was the highlight of our trip. Moreno is so friendly and bent over backwards for us (even drove us to a local castle afterwards). http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g187837-d1091635-Reviews-Ristorante_Il_Caminetto_Cookery_Lessons-Varenna_Lake_Como_Lombardy.html Unfortunately I don't have my pictures up yet.
p.s. On my first trip to Italy, I went to Stresa on Lake Maggiore and loved it there too. The scenery was beautiful.
