Runners.....? about your feet

How do you keep them pretty? I run about 7 miles per day currently. Ive been running for years and my feet are so beat up and terrible!! I have calluses on my toe pads, dry skin , etc etc.  They are pretty ugly

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!!

Re: Runners.....? about your feet

  • DH is scarred by how ugly my feet are, so he always gets me a gift card for Christmas that lasts for pedicures about 1x/month for the year. ;-) I also try to lotion my feet before bed (Eucerin) & wear socks over them to make them a little softer.

  • Yeah, theyre not pretty. I try to keep my toenails done. The rest of my feet though.....well, i think of them as functional, not cute.

    Same here.

I dance barefoot and need those callouses.  They're a lot better than blisters - which is what would happen when I first started and used to get pedicures.

  • I used to be all about the cute pedicures and would keep my toenail polish in colors that matched the seasons, but ever since I got into running seriously, I've given up on that. Now I'll only paint my toenails for special occasions, but I don't dare get rid of my callouses (they're not severe, mainly on the ball of my feet, and the fronts of my index toes).

Oh, and I'm rockin' the black toenail look on my right foot right now. I'm wearing it as a badge of honor for completing my first HM.

  • I don't even really notice anymore.  Sometimes I get wild and crazy and paint my toenails but usually I don't even bother.

  • My feet are ugly, too. I just lost a toenail and all of my remaining nails have chipped nail polish on them... I've given up :)

  • I just embrace the gnarly feet.

  • I'm a cyclist not a runner...but...I consider myself to have mediocre feet. I have to keep my toenails pretty short, or they will get grown in. I will admit that I keep my toenails painted during "sandal season." I only get 1-2 pedicures a year. I have to have the calluses taken off occasionally although I usually do it yourself.

I say embrace the ugly feet.
