Recommend your white noise machine
Something tells me that we discussed this recently. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good white noise machine? I like to have some noise in the background when I sleep, and the fan I use is driving DH nuts.

I'm such a light sleeper and have always slept with some sort of white noise (fan, CD, noise machine, etc.). DH snores like crazy, so the two of us just don't sleep in the same room well at all. All the white noise drove DH nuts (he couldn't stand the repetitive nature of the white noise machines), so he did some research and ended up making a "pink noise" CD for me. Don't know where he got it, but it's a 72 minute track of pink noise that I play on repeat in a CD player next to my side of the bed. It's slightly obnoxious when it hits the end and starts over (I'm usually asleep by then anyway), but it's been wonderful (we've used it for probably 6 years now). When we travel, I have an app for my iPad called Sleep Pillow that I use. It's not nearly as effective for me, but I need something to drown out the snoring or I seriously won't sleep at all.
I've also been looking at this, though...

My daughter has used this one every night for the past 2 years. I really like that the volume is adjustable and it has several nice sounds... although, she only uses the rain. It has a timer as well (if you don't want it running all night).

I love this thing! I seriously cannot sleep without it. I bought it a few years ago and it's the perfect white noise - just sounds like a fan. I'm not sure if it would help with snoring but i don't notice the heat clicking on or small background noises that use to wake me up. My sister even bought one for my nephew and he loves it.

I have had a fan from 2001 I still use. No joke. DH complains about it, but it still works for me.
We are getting a white noise machine that is intended for babies soon, and it will be in our room for a while. I think it's a Homedics brand from Target. If I end up liking it I might buy another to have one in each room.
