Can I trim my dog's whiskers?

Sorry if this is a stupid question:

Brady has one whisker that turns up and is constantly poking him in the eye.  Is it okay to trim it?  It doesn't really seem to bother him, but I can't imagine a whisker poking you in the eye all day is enjoyable...

Re: Can I trim my dog's whiskers?

  • Yes, you can trim them.  Some breeds get their faces shaved - think poodles.  Personally, I like to leave whiskers because I don't like the stubble feel, but I wouldn't hesitate to just trim one whisker.  Dogs will actually lose their whiskers too just like they can shed their coat, but they grow new ones too.

  • Awesome, thank you!!  I wouldn't normally touch them, but it's constantly poking him in the eye.  Looks like little man is going to get a trimming :)
