**Kasi - Silhouette questions**

Where did you buy a scraper for the cutting mat? I didn't see one at Michael's. Also how often do you need to replace the blade and/or cutting mat? If I need to order a scraper online, I thought maybe I should get an extra blade just in case as well.

TIA!

Re: **Kasi - Silhouette questions**

  • I use a spatula as my scraper.  I bought it when I used my Cricut.  It's the Provocraft brand.  I've used old credit cards before as well.

I think I got my Silhouette in the summer of last year and have yet to change my blade.  I used it almost daily until December and since then it's been on and off but I haven't had any problems with the blade dulling *yet*.  I would get an extra blade for back up so when your blade does dull you don't have to worry about waiting for another one to be delivered.

As for the cutting mat, I restick mine so I have never had to buy any. I still only have the ones the machine came with.  I use the fat chisel point Zig Pen (can be found in papercrafts section of craft store) to restick it after I have wiped it with water to get the excess paper bits off.  I just go over the mat with the glue and let it dry.  I pat it down with my hands to get some of the stick off because it can get really sticky.  Sometimes I will also wipe it down with water to get it to unstick a little.  I did this with my Cricut mats as well.  People have used re-positional adhesive sprays that can be found at the craft stores instead of my method.  I haven't used that so I can't vouch for that but I hear it works well too.

  • Thank you!! How often do you need to restick your cutting mat? Do you scrape yours every time you use it? I wonder if it's really necessary to get all of the excess off before using it the next time.

  • I don't restick it too often, just when it's not holding the paper.  I don't ever really scrape mine unless there's bits of paper stuck that will mess up my cuts.
