Recommendations for family trip to coastal South
Hi all! My DH and I are thinking about taking a quick trip with the kiddos. We are very open to the destination. Here are our criteria:
1) Coastal & warm
2) Laid back - we did Disney last year and are not ready for that again ;-)
3) Family friendly
4) Bonus points for relatively inexpensive
We were thinking about the Gulf Coast or TX but don;t know anything about the areas. I have also heard good things about the Carolinas/Georgia.

Check out Tybee Island, GA. Very laid back. It is 20 min out side Savannah, GA. There are plenty of things to do. It is very family friendly. It is relatively inexpensive. I recomend staying on the northern end of the island, between the lighthouse and 5th street. That is an area with less traffic and less people. During the week, there are not very many people on the island. Weekends are busier.
Nearly every restaurant on island is kid friendly. You can go on dolphin tours, tour the lighthouse, there are several forts to visit, play grounds, wild life park, the library has toddler time on Tuesdays, the YMCA has skate nights on Fridays, there are free movies at the park and the campground on weekends. I recomend either bringing bikes or renting bikes while you are here. There are also several places who rent bike trailers for little ones. You can get anywere on the island by bike. It is very bike friendly and bike trails are all over.
I am going to second Tybee island in Georgia. You are also a few minutes away from Savannah and it's a beautiful city too.
