question for the landlords/landladies
if your renters approached you and said they wanted to buy the property they rent from you, would you sell?
Assuming the price was right, you don't mind working through a sale with them, etc.
(It is not currently listed for sale, but we know he'll be listing it in the next few years. We also know we risk paying more than if we negotiated for a place already listed for sale, but we love it here and it's worth it for us to not have to move.)
Are we being wishful, first-time buyer, dreamers (aka idiots)?

We own three rental properties.
One of them is our former home, and we always intended to sell it when the market recovered enough, so yes...in that case we would sell if the tenants were interested, the price was right, etc.
The other two we do not want to sell. They're in great rental markets and were purchased as investment properties. They're far more valuable to us in terms of collecting rent and building equity, so unless the tenants offered us *far* more than they're worth (which isn't likely given the impossibility of obtaining that mortgage!), we would politely decline any purchase offers.
