I'm ridiculously nervous!

My first It's Just Lunch date is tonight.   First of all, it's not just lunch, so why do they call it that?  For some reason I would be way less nervous about lunch.  It's at 6:30, does that mean drinks or dinner?  Hmm  And I have to go downtown which makes me nervous b/c I don't know my way around and I never know where to park (and I have a mild phobia of parking garages).  What I am most nervous about is walking in and having no clue what this guy looks like.  They don't even send a picture.  All I know is he has brown hair.  They haven't even told me how tall he is so I don't know if I should wear heels (I'm almost 5'11").  But I'm excited too... I hope that it goes wellParty!!!

Re: I'm ridiculously nervous!

  • Good luck Kitty!  I'd go with the heels and maybe the place you're going has valet??  Can you check their website or call later in the day?  Keep us posted!  I've wanted to try this too!

  • Ditto nyg&p, even on the heels. Parking garages aren't my favorite thing in the world, either, so I feel your pain. Definitely give the place a call later today (maybe right after their lunch rush?) to ask about the parking situation.

    Good luck! Smile

  • I'd wear heels still.  6:30 would be good for drinks and appetizers so you can bust a move if you're not feeling it without having to wait to finish entrees.  I would be nervous on a blind date too--is he supposed to check in with the hostess or something?  How does that work?

    Good luck!  Report back!

I checked their website and there is no valet!  Good call though on calling to ask about parking, I'll do that this afternoon.  I am pretty sure that the restaurant is on the street that is pedestrian only too which I almost drove on last time I had a date downtown!  Indifferent  I also didn't know where to park and ended up in a lot that was like $20 which is a lot for the city I live in.

Yea, I'm supposed to check in with the hostess and ask for him.  They have reserved a table for us...
  • I'd be so nervous too! Good luck! I hope you hit it off with this guy. I'm tall too, 5'9, and I don't enjoy towering over guys so I think I might wear flats or small heels just to be safe. But that's just my personal preference.
  • What about some cute flat boots?  I think that 6:30 is a good time because you can have drinks/appetizers and feel it out.  If it's going bad you can make up an excuse about having to leave.  If it's going great you can stay and have dinner/dessert.

  • Kudos to you BK, because I dont think I would have the stones to meet someone that I had no clue what they looked like.  Hope it goes well for you and he doesnt wear a bandana to your date.

LOL, hopefully there will be no bandanas involved in my date tonight... I do have a 2nd date with the wrestler/bandana dude on Friday but hopefully he will leave the bandana at home!

  • GL and let us know how it goes!
  • Good luck, have fun, and report back with all details!  I'm very curious as to how totally blind dates go!
