Pre-cruise stay in Ft Lauderdale

My husband and I will be traveling with our 13 month old for a cruise this fall and we are so torn on where to stay pre-cruise.  We would like to be closeby to shopping where we can purchase items like diapers, wipes, sunscreen, a blow up pool, sand bucket and toys and things of that nature.  I am talking walking distance to these places or to the water taxi or sun trolley since I do not wish to be lugging around a carseat.

I am priority club reward holder so I will likely be able to redeem points for a stay in one of the choice hotels.  It would be nice if the hotel offered shuttle from the airport and cruise port, free breakfast, nice pool and fridge in the room.

What are your experiences/recommendations?

TIA!

Re: Pre-cruise stay in Ft Lauderdale

  • Have you tried the Floirda departures board on www.cruisecritic.com?

DH & I usually just use Priceline for pre-cruise stays b/c we care only about getting a deal & keeping the costs down.

  • We stayed at the Cambria Suites, just a month ago- it was SO nice! we were there with our 2 year old and it worked out great. They have a shuttle from the airport and to the boat the next day. The rooms have a sitting area with a seperate TV and a couch which was great for our toddler. As for if it was close to shopping- I'm not sure, because we got in at 8pm and left the next day, but it was in a well populated area- I assume there was something around there to go shopping. The cost was good too- it was like $149 for the night- everywhere else I looked was much higher and did not look nearly as nice.
