Sorry, this got longer than I planned.
I am getting my hair cut and colored tonight. I REALLY need something different, but I'm chicken to do anything too drastic. I'd like to keep some length to it but I don't like to take too much time with my hair in the morning. I will flatiron it or put it up in jumbo hot rollers and that's about it. 30 mins max each day...less if possible.
I have really thick hair...about enough for three people. She thins it out for me but I still have a crapload of hair. It has a slight wave to it naturally, but not enough to work with and too much to not flatiron or put in rollers. It doesn't hold curl very well either.
I was thinking a few inches off (maybe 4-6"), some layers to frame my face and then what? I can't really do a specific style because my hair grows like a weed and the last time I actually had it cut to a style, within 2 wks it had grown too much to keep it looking right. It has to be a style that will hold up while my hair grows. I get my hair cut like twice a year, so there ya go!
I don't do bangs...been there, done that and after about 3 days of bangs they start getting pinned back and the regret sets in. I have two cowlicks in the front that make my bangs stick out weird. I can't stand my hair in my face either. As soon as I get home at night it goes up in a pony tail.
I get a demi-permanent color that is about the same color as my natural color and eventually washes out (the pictures are my natural color). I do it just to cover the grey. Although, the first time she colored it she put more gold in the color and my hair reacted by having a redish tinge to it. I'm thinking I might have her do that again for a little something different. Craaazzzzyyyy! Yeah, boring. I'm not up for highlights or going lighter. I can't handle maintaining it. With highlights I sit there for about 4 hrs and my appt is at 6:00.
My hair is a PITA. I know it doesn't look like it would be, but it is. I takes at least 4 fricken hours to air dry (about 20 mins with a hairdrier). I wash it about 7:00 p.m., go to bed around 10:00 and it's still damp when I get up in the morning.
Don't mind the PJ top and the goofy look I have on my face. I didn't realize how hard it is to take a pic of yourself in a bathroom mirror!
This is how I usually wear my hair most days. Some days I use a barrette or bobby pins to put the front back instead of a side part.
*poof* you missed it.
Re: Help me with my hair! PIP went *poof*
You are pretttty.
ETA: Got distracted by your prettyness... lol... what about a cute shoulder length layered cut? Its lighter, the layering should make it easier to dry?
Something like this?
Thanks Betty.
I love your hair. You're pretty!
I have very little advice about the actual haircut. I've been getting the same thing done since high school.
Your hair is gorgeous. So shiny!
I would take off a good amount of length, so that it's just below your shoulders and get some long layers put in.
Thanks. I'm not sure about the layers all over. I usually get a couple of really long layers in the back just to lighten it up a little, but it doesn't really change the way my hair looks.
Do you think layers would make a difference in how it looks?
They will make a difference. They will take a lot of the weight out of your hair and your whole head will feel lighter. It will help with drying time too.
Face framers are always good. I can't think of anyone that they look bad on (I'm sure I'll get corrected on this point!) and you are so pretty. I feel like you have so much hair and it is so gorgeous that it might take some of the focus off of your face and your face deserves to be shown off.
You guys are embarassing me.
I was thinking just below my shoulders. I have to be able to get it into a ponytail!
I wish I had someone to do my hair for me each morning.
I feel like my hair is soooo boring. I wish I could do cute styles, but my hair does not cooperate.
Get yourself a reality TV show, make some dough, and then hire your own hair/makeup team. Voila!! Now you just have to figure out what your schtick is going to be, you know?
Either that or you could play the lottery religiously.
I agree!
In five years on the nest I have NEVER seen a picture of you, and now I'm not sure why why why??!??!?!
You are SO GORGEOUS.
I'm sorry but I will have to comment on your glorious shiny hair later. I am still getting over how beautiful you are.
Oh, jeeze...I'd rather show off my hair than my face! When you get old you'll do anything to take away the focus from your wrinkles! LOL
I did not post pictures to get compliments and my face is bright red right now from embarassment.
Um this!! You are SO pretty!!!
I agree with everything that muddled said. You should listen to her.
Okay...you all talked me into just below my shoulders with some long layers in back and face framing layers in front. I'm going to get the gold put in my color.
I feel like I'm getting 'the Rachael' all over again.
Now, do I get it cut straight across in the back or gradually dipped in the middle.
ESD just became my favorite. Everybody should listen to me. All the time. I am going to have this one ready to C&P.
Morty, don't be embarrassed. We just call 'em like we see 'em.The camera does not lie. Except sometimes, like when colors are off, but that does not apply here.
I honestly think a lot of us would be in a better place if we saw ourselves through others' eyes- me included.
FI already does the bolded part. He would love it if I starting playing too!
It's not the Rachel. It's what Rachel did after she realized that the Rachel was not her best look.
Straight across.
I actually liked her hair that way and had that cut myself in the mid 90's and rocked it. Although, I was a deviant and had bangs with that cut (which I guess no longer makes it the Rachel).
Just wanted to add another "you're pretty!" onto the pile.
I'll be the Gilmore girls nut that says you kinda look like Lorelai in the second pic.
I have no hair advice though. Mine looks exactly like yours... well, up to this past weekend when I got 5 inches cut off. So now it just looks like a shorter version of your hair.

I think this would be stunning on you! It looks like she has the same hair as you, too. My hair is pretty much the same as yours, in both length and color. I just cut off 5-6 inches last week, added some fresh layers and dyed it a darker shade, she also worked in a few lighter tones around my crown. I hear you about it being a PITA, especially if you go to sleep with it in a ponytail.
And, as all PPs said, you are amazingly beautiful!
You ARE pretty! Stop being embarrassed and OWN it, woman!
I would agree with some soft layers, and cut like 4 inches off the bottom.
I want to touch your hair. The "ooh, shiiiny" portion of my brain is in full effect.
Thank you. I can't take a compliment gracefully to save my life.
The bolded part: I get people asking me now and then if they can touch my hair. It's weird. LOL Some people touch without asking and I glare at them.
