Marni at H & M

Did anyone go for the hype and shop the collection today? This isn't normally my thing, but since I feel so woefully behind on doing fashion-y things in Paris and since the H & M two blocks from my house was one of the locations where the designs were on sale, I went. I only walked away with one shirt, but the two hours I spent waiting outside were interesting to hear the chatter around me. The women standing there with me had studied absolutely every piece on the internet  and knew exactly what they were going for. It was an interesting view on a world very far removed from my own.

And now, back to my work-at-home life.

Re: Marni at H & M

  • Our H&M posted on Twitter that they'd be doing the Marni collection this morning, so I did look at the collection online - and really liked a lot of the pieces. I might look this weekend for dotted dress which could be cute for cocktail hour at my sister's rehearsal dinner.

However, it's close to 100 USD so I'd have to love it a lot to buy it!

What did you think of the pieces? How is the quality?

  • I usually avoid store events like that. I don't do well in large crowds. But I do miss H&M. They have yet to open one in Costa Rica.

They only let 30 people into the store at a time, so this was no Filene's Basement wedding-dress-nightmare sale (or am I the only one who thinks of that when I see sales events like these announced?). It was actually quite civilized.

To pp, the quality doesn't seem that much better than the average H & M stuff. I'm actually wondering if I am going to keep the shirt I got. It's cute, but doesn't feel as fancy as the price tag.

  • This reminds me of when H&M opened at my local mall in the states. There was a red carpet and it was so crowded. I went late that day and didn't have to wait to get in, but I also missed out on the goody bag.
  • I would be interested in checking it out as I can't afford any of her normal stuff. But really, since my name is Marni (spelled the same way), it would be neat to have something designed by Marni. Too bad we are mid-move and I'm not sure when I'll be able to get to an H&M.
