1. How technology-savvy is your workplace? Do you still use Excel 2003? Are your servers ancient? Or is everything fairly streamlined and current?
2. Is the workflow process manageable - that is, do people know their roles as a cog in the overall business machine, or is it confusing in terms of who does what?
3. Do you enjoy what you do? Do you wish you had a different position in your company, or another job altogether?
Look with your special eyes.
Re: Workplace polle
I DD'ed. Because, yeah, I'm paranoid.
1. How technology-savvy is your workplace? Do you still use Excel 2003? Are your servers ancient? Or is everything fairly streamlined and current? Ugh. We're in the process of updating all or our technology. We're upgrading to IE9, Windows 10 and I forget what Office version... we have 2007 right now. We're also upgrading to a windows based program instead of DOS (that's right, DOS) for processing and data housing. The best part is, they're doing all of this with absolutely no training whatsoever. The reactions people are having are freaking epic.
2. Is the workflow process manageable - that is, do people know their roles as a cog in the overall business machine, or is it confusing in terms of who does what? OMG, I can't stand self-righteous sales reps. They have no freaking clue and want me to figure everything out for them. I've been here nearly 11 years now and this place is a goddamn trainwreck compared to what it used to be.
3. Do you enjoy what you do? Do you wish you had a different position in your company, or another job altogether? Meh. I'm in actuarial. I like the department in that we're all introvert, do our own stuff, management doesn't really care as long as your work is done... but the people outside of my department are insufferable.
I'm currently working on getting over a ridiculously rude and condescending voicemail that a sales rep left for me because I was off work yesterday with a sick kid. I mean, don't I know that I'm supposed to be here every.single.day just in case this person forgets to request some data that she needs for a meeting in a few hours. I mean, she can't be expected to have her schit together and request this stuff in a timely manner after all.

1. How technology-savvy is your workplace? Do you still use Excel 2003? Are your servers ancient? Or is everything fairly streamlined and current? People only get new computers when their old ones die. One of my coworkers daily gets a message that the battery is low and about to die (in his desktop!). Everyone has different versions of things, so when I recently took over a case, I couldn't use any of the old files because I have an older version of Microsoft Office than the previous therapist. We aren't really networked, no use of servers, we use encrypted flash drives to back up our computers.
2. Is the workflow process manageable - that is, do people know their roles as a cog in the overall business machine, or is it confusing in terms of who does what? Not really. Granted, it's not a traditional environment. Roles and expectations are rarely clear, there's no training on what is/isn't appropriate for our roles (esp. as therapists), communication is horrible. We have a ridiculous amount of paperwork and are expected to get ~50+ hours of work done in a 40-hour workweek. No overtime is paid, or if it is you have to shave the time off another day in the pay period.
3. Do you enjoy what you do? Do you wish you had a different position in your company, or another job altogether? I enjoy what I do, in the grand scheme of things. I think the place I work is supremely dysfunctional and I'd love to be a therapist somewhere else.
