So now the nest/knot/bump is.....

  • TN doesn't even have a clue about a lot of things and that's been evident to me for a long time. It's a clunky badly managed website and if it weren't for the women on this board I'd have long since left it in the dust.

    Yep.

I'd love to meet their IT department.

  • Do they not have a legal dept. to say, "Uh, guys this is may be a bad idea and here's why?"

Or have even heard of Copyright?

  • If anyone has concerns they would like to pass on, I would be glad to post them for you.  You can always PM them to me.  You can also email BK.  I really think everyone needs to voice their concerns.  I think they are more thinking about bringing more traffic to the boards than they are about people who have been posting here for a long time leaving.  That needs to be brought to their attention.

I'm sure there's going to be a back and forth about content that's uploaded or posted to TN becoming "property" of the website and they can do whatever they'd like with it.

I'm with Stella...if it wasn't for you awesome ladies I'd be high tailing it out of here.

Unfortunately, it's within their terms of use if the pictures from the original blog are posted to TN, which is the case on the weekly blog updates on WC. Still completely ludicrous in my mind but just another reason to keep vigilant on personal privacy around here.

What's funny is I can deal with occasional IT issues. Those do happen and sometimes even you get a lazy or inept programmer who claims that something cannot be done. The problem is that everything IT does is as a direct result of Nest policy. The people creating their policy have a poor grip on what it is that people are and aren't okay with and the best methods for dealing with change.

And that's not just the Nest. It's a lot of websites and a lot of businesses. They think that the best way to do things is come up with corny ideas in their corporate office, implement and then wait for negative feedback to back down. Some businesses (I'm looking at you Activision/Blizzard) actually host forums which include their own developers and let their customer base know about changes before they occur so that they can decide ahead of time how they feel. Heck, they even schedule their maintenance ahead of time so that 90% of the time it doesn't catch people by surprise.

I would totally support the WC ladies if they were to pick up their whole weekly update thread and move it to a different forum or outlet of expression. The whole "your postings are eligible for our use unless you purposely opt out" is the opposite of what it should be.

I know what you mean. I'm curious if TN IT hates their research/develop team because of all their "good ideas" lol.
