WWYD: I don't want to run fast today.
I've been putting off my planned intervals for the week all week. today is my last chance before the weekend. now I'm sitting at my desk making up all sorts of reasons why I shouldn't do those mile repeats. but I have no interest in running fast today. I just don't wanna.
so, tell me what you would do. easy run? fartlek? some hills or something? don't say tempo because I"m even less interested in that business than mile repeats.
mitigating factors: it's lovely out today and my goal half is one week from saturday.
Re: WWYD: I don't want to run fast today.
I hate intervals too. But I just do them. However, due to the weather today, I would maybe just run a lovely longer run instead. You will enjoy it, it is good for you, and I am not one to believe in junk miles, so I say no matter what it is good. But if you are going to beat yourself up if you don't do your intervals then just suck it up and do them (I mean that not at all snarky, just how I would tell myself to do it!)

Running on the Rhode
I hate you very much
i would do a fartlek style run. use your garmin as a stop watch (dont look at your pace) and tell yourself you are going run 3 minutes fast. if it feels good, run 4. if it sucks, run 2. and then do it again.
i prefer doing that method rather than forcing myself to run a certain distance, at a certain pace. dont get me wrong, you have to suck it up and do structured interval training - but i am pretty relaxed about that stuff.
I'm def going to run today. it's just a matter of whether I can compel myself to run fast (for me).
as for why I don't want to run fast, no particular reason. I'm not hurt or tired. I had plenty of food today. I just don't feel like it. also, running fast kind of hurts and is a little unpleasant.
I did have a fantastically awful run yesterday that I cut short because it was sucking so much and then I felt sad.
maybe I'll bust out my timex marathon and try the gumiberg workout. at least for a couple of rounds.
