Concierge level rooms in Maui?
A friend recommended staying in the "concierge level" room category as a way to save money on meals - breakfasts, especially. I am planning a trip to Maui and am curious about whether anyone here has had luck with this?

Re: Concierge level rooms in Maui?
To save money, you get a much more expensive room? I can see it maybe working out if your alternative breakfast was a $30 hotel buffet, maybe, but I think concierge rooms are usually a couple hundred more. Plus the breakfasts at the concierge level are usually of the continental muffin, coffee, waffle, juice type.
Just pick up some muffins at the costco by the airport on your way to your hotel. It's much more affordable.
There are a lot of inexpensive places to eat in Maui or you have the option of going to the grocery store and buying food to keep on had so I don't think I would select a concierge level room to save on food (unless you would only eat at the $30 pp breakfast buffet each day-then maybe it would). We recently stayed at the Ritz Carlton for a week and only ate breakfast at the hotel one day - all other days we walked to a nearby restaurant and spent less than $20 on breakfast for the two of us.
Also, if you watch a number of the hotels often offer room prices that include breakfast.
Kaanapali Beach Hotel would be perfect for your needs. Staying there is not very expensive.
We stayed at the Four Seasons Maui and had a club level room. Worth every single penny. The breakfast at the Four Seasons ran about $40 pp, and we don't eat huge breakfasts, so having a breakfast spread on our floor every morning was a huge perk. The breakfasts changed everyday also, eggs benedict, pancakes, waffles, etc. No boring continental breakfast. They also had out afternoon tea and small bites, then an appetizer spread each night, which if you wanted was plenty for a full dinner.
The real bonus and value I thought was in the complimentary beverage service. All day long the bottled water, sodas, and wine/beer/cocktails was offered. Since a glass of wine on the resort was $25, that was another big perk for us.
I don't know about other resorts, but at the Four Seasons the room service is also complimentary when the Concierge in the club level orders it for you.
We also place huge value on convenience and service, so spending the extra money to have very personalized attention, no bills and room charges, and a personal concierge to arrange all our activities was well worth it!!
Okay, this sounds awesome! We're going back to Maui this September but haven't finalized our accommodations yet. I'm soooo interested in the FS or GW. Can I ask what you paid for this club level room? What's the price difference from a regular room? Any other tips?
I'm calling bs on $25 for a glass of wine. I've eaten at the FS a few times, and I've drunk more than my share of wine. I wouldn't have paid prices that high.
I just did a quick comparison at the FS. For ocean-view, which is the lowest club level, there's a $260/day difference between the rates for a random midweek stay. Ocean club is nearly double the cost of a the lowest room rate. You can add a breakfast package for $50/day.
Wow, okay, that puts things in perspective. Thanks!
If you book the FS using a Preferred Partner, you get breakfast for free, $100 spa credit and an automatic room upgrade. The room prices are same as what they are on the FS website. I use David Ourisman and he is amazing. I originally found him on Flyertalk.
