Project Runway 3/8

Yeah, I'm just over this since Rami was cut. I do think Mondo will, and deserves, to win. But the other three I just don't think are real competition so I don't care.

Mondo - didn't care for it. Ugly colors. Boring shape. Sad that it actually was the winner.

Michael - Pretty, but easy and has been done by him before.

Austin - I don't care.

Kenley - I do think she was the right choice to go home. The lack of attention to the pattern in the seams was really glaring. When there is such a gigantic print that is the feature of the whole dress, that needs to be done carefully. The poor seams were all I could see on the runway. Not sad to see her gone - I can imagine her whole collection of precious polka dot circle skirts in my head. No need to see it actually done.

Re: Project Runway 3/8

  • i LOATHE kenley, i think she doesn't have much talent outside of her 2 or 3 dress designs she's made since her actual season. she never listens to criticism, and her voice makes me want to die.

i love love loved mondo's dress, i'd wear it in a heartbeat! i was ambivalent about austin and michael's dresses...i'm just so relieved kenley FINALLY got sent home.

  • Mondo's dress was really fun.  I thought that Austin's coat was pretty when the belt was off, but I am not much of a belted trenchcoat fan.

I get why they have a love/hate relationship with Michael's clothes.  I agreed with Austin that Micheal's dress seemed inappropriate for the challenge, and that no one but a model can wear it, but I totally understood why they loved it on the runway.

I really thought that Kenley's dress was not a pretty dress at all. The style seemed more dated than vintage chic, and her use of the pattern in the fabric was horrible.  I thought it was really weird in the after show that the two women on the street thought that her designs were so young/fresh/flattering/whatever, since I think they are often kind of matronly and/or costumey, and sometimes kind of cheap looking.

  • I liked Austin's coat and thought it would win over Mondo's dress just because the dress didn't have any shape.  I did like all the mixing of colors and patterns.  It's ridiculous how he can just throw that stuff together and make it look like it's mean't to be.

Kenlee's dress was about the ugliest thing I saw this whole season.  How could you look at that and think it looked good?  How could you not even ATTEMPT to match up the pattern on the seams.  It was hideous.  I laughed when she said that the pattern couldn't handle a keyhole.  LOL.  The pattern couldn't handle your sewing skills, evidently. And to top it off, I didn't think the shape was anything special.  It was too long.  The sleeves were silly.  And she looked like she was choking.

Michael C. won't win, so I could careless about him.

  • I thought Mondo's dress was a terrible idea. It does not flatter a lot of shapes and it didn't even look good on the model. It was a good idea though.

I thought Austin should have won.

Thanks God Kinley went home! Her voices drives me crazy and she does the same thing over and over again.

  • OMG. I cannot stand Michael. It has been done! Wasn't that dress just like a jersey version of J-Lo's Grammy Dress?

I'm so tired of his drama and same old dress.

I really liked Austin's coat. The color was gorgeous.

  • Alright, I didn't actually see the show so am only looking at the recap over on tomandlorenzo. But wtf did Mondo send down the runway? He won with that? Seriously? It is a shapeless sack and the seams aren't straight. I agree with the assessment that it looked like a table runner at a Mexican restaurant. whattheheck. And I also agree with tomandlorenzo calling him Mr. Whiney-Boo. I don't care for him much this season.

And I do actually like Kenleys and fully admit to actually liking Kenley (cat throwing aside). But the pattern should have matched up on the back.

This.   I don't find him very likable at all, to the point where it annoys me when I actually like his outfit the best. lol

I couldn't believe him calling Austin a diva and looking down on him (okay, he is  a diva, but that isn't my point), without acknowledging his own diva attitude.  Just because his own diva attitude doesn't involve his personal appearance, it doesn't mean that he isn't one or that he is better than anyone/everyone else.   And he really does need to learn to draw.  I though that my design drawings sucked, but  I am feeling better about them now, since they are much better than his. ;p

I actually like the judges this season, but in my head I kept hearing  Micheal Kors and Nina blasting Michael and Kenley for their rip off designs, and wondered why these guys didn't call them out.  Michael thinks he's Versace and Kenley's dress was a bad version of the dress they called her out on in her season as being from a Balenciaga.

  • I was way off on this challenge- I thought Mondo would be in the bottom with Kenley or Austin and quite possibly go home.  I could not believe his dress won- it was okay but just not the knock-out pieces he usually does.

I thought Austin's coat was a little matronly- too long, too much fabric, but I did like the color- like I said, I really was way off with who I thought did well and did badly this challenge.

I like Michael and am happy he is still in it.  I do think he's one of the more talented dressmakers in terms of construction (and I think that's why he's always against Austin- he knows his competition) but maybe he's not the most fashion-forward designer.  I'm pretty sure he does mostly custom resort wear for the Palm Springs wealthy- maybe that's why they say he is more of a people pleaser than someone who stands out for his own designs, because that's what he's used to doing.  Turning someone else's vision into a beautiful dress.

B'bye Kenley, bah-bye!  She's really lucky she made it this far, IMO.

Ditto. And ditto to Michael's dress looking like a J-Lo grammy rip off. That's exactly what I thought when I saw it.

  • I liked Austin's coat, it wasn't amazing, but it was a cute idea. I also liked Mondo's but thought it needed to be just a bit more fitted. Kenley's was cute but not great, and I think the keyhole could have helped, as well as lining up the print correctly before she cut it out. Michael.. well I have been over him for awhile. I just don't like how he keeps doing the same thing. Kaftans are not that flattering outside of beach coverup's...

I would've liked to have Michael go home over Kenley, but I'm not worried about him winning.

As an aside, I really loved this challenge and I wish they had more challenges where the designers have to work within realistic parameters such as budget including materials and labor. This is how the business really works. I think using this concept for an entire show/season would be cool. Because honestly anyone can make something once, but it takes a smart designer to be able to make a profit and have a viable fashion business.
