Which Disney World Park to Visit?

My husband and I will be passing through Orlando so we thought we'd spend 2 days at Disney. We planned on Epcot but aren't sure where we should spend the other day. We have no children and don't think Magic Kingdom would have much for us. We have heard that Animal Kingdom doesn't really take a whole day so it might not be worth the money. We don't know much at all about MGM Grand. Any suggestions or advice?

Re: Which Disney World Park to Visit?

  • We have a blast in Magic Kingdom, even with out our kids.  If it were me, that's what I would pick.  I like Hollywood Studios, but it never takes us a full day to get through.  Might not be a bad idea if you are getting on the road to do more driving.

  • If you have not been you must do Magic kingdom.

  • Get the park hopper passes and hit them all for a bit!! Totally worth it!!

I agree, Magic Kingdom is the best one to really get the Disney experience. FI and I can easily spend a whole day there, no kids.

  • I think MGM is boring. The last time I went there I did Animal Kingdom the same day. I think Magic Kingdom is your best option. I really like that park.

Another option is to go to one of the Universal Parks or SeaWorld.

  • Magic Kingdom and Epcot are my favorites.  We went a few years ago (no kids) for a long weekend and did these two parks and had a great time.
  • Park hopping is a great idea.  When we were without kids, we could do several parks in a day, hitting the big rides.  Go drink around the world at EPCOT!
  • I agree on the hopper too, definitely worth it for squeezing a lot into a short trip!  Without the hopper I would do the Magic Kingdom, especially if you have never been to Disney before.  There will be plenty to do and even without kids I would ride the classics.  I also love the fireworks and Main Street Electrical Parade there.  With a hopper, I would do a couple hours at Animal Kingdom before Magic Kingdom.

  • Even without my kids, if I had to choose two parks they would be MK and Epcot, hands down.

AK doesn't interest me (nor does it take me a full day) and while DHS is fun I can also get through most of what I want to do there in less than a day, plus I enjoy it less than I enjoy the magic of MK.

I don't know that I'd park hop with only two days.  First, the cost is around $55 to add park hopping, which is a lot considering.  Second, you'd spend too much of your time on transportation getting from one park to another.  With that short a time to visit, I'd pick two parks and spend a full day getting the most out of each.  JMO, of course.

  • Definitely do Magic Kingdom! It's not just for kids as some think.  Well, it's great if you are a kid at heart! LOL  There a lot of great rides/attractions there if you like rides- the 3 "mountains" Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, The Hall of Presidents if you are patriotic or a history buff, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, etc. We love them all and usually do MK more than one day when we are there.  I just did an all adult trip in May, with my DH, My Dad, DH's Mom, his sister/BIL and his Dad.  Actually many of the times I have gone it has been without any kids (went with Neices and nephew a few times and I Was a kid the first time, LOL)
  • Get parkhoppers and do two parks a day. The transportation doesn't take that long. I've done all four parks in a day before!
  • Animal Kingdom is just a big zoo if you ask me and can be done in 1/2 day. Hollywood Studios is fun but again not a full day.

My vote is either Epcot and Magic Kingdom or do park hopper option. You could really hit up MK and HS one day and Epcot the other. You could really do all four of them if you timed it right. If I had to pick one to completely pass on it would Animal Kingdom!

  • another vote for the hopper. if i only had two days, i'd prob do magic kingdom then epcot at night for dinner. then the other two the next day.

or if you only want to do one each day, i'd do MK and either epcot or hollywood studios. MK is my fav and would be my 1st choice.

    have fun!

  • We did Park Hopper when we went, but if I had to choose one park, I'd say Magic Kingdom no question. We don't have kids, but it was our fave and we were able to be there all day (2 days actually) without getting bored.
