I have an irrational fear of phone calls
I have an irrational fear of making phone calls. This doesn't make any sense to me. I needed to make an appointment with the vet, and I've put it off for a day and a half. I finally figured I just need to bite the bullet and do it, and it was fine. Painless. Appointment made. No big deal. But it's not going to make it much easier next time.
I hate calling my doctor to make an appointment. I hate calling friends to make plans. I'd rather do everything via SMS or online.
It's kind of ridiculous. Any advice for getting over it?
(Now that I'm flying solo, I can't fall back on my trusty solution of "ask DH to do it!")
Re: I have an irrational fear of phone calls
I hate the phone too. I feel anxious whenever my phone rings. I have been making more of an effort lately to call my friends instead of sending an sms.
I've noticed whenever friends call me they always ask "am I bothering you?" as soon as I answer. Do you ladies get that too from local friends or is this a French thing or is it an azure_azure thing - my voice makes them think I am bothered when I answer???
I do the same thing, and I think it's gotten even worse now with having to make calls in Spanish. It makes me so nervous that when I do muster the courage to make the call, it comes out all backwards and barely makes sense.
azure, the "am I disturbing?" question is actually just a regular thing people say in France when they call I think. I use it too
Good to know! Merci!
