Are Kashi Go Lean Crunchy bars a healthy snack?

I'm looking for filling yet quality snacks (specifically mid-aft snacks or snacks on the go).

Are these a good option?

Re: Are Kashi Go Lean Crunchy bars a healthy snack?

  • That all depends on your needs and wants in a day.  I mean, a cookie could be a healthy snack if you need some sugar and carbs in your diet, KWIM?

I guess if it fits into your daily needs and doesn't have too much of one thing or another, they would be good.

  • I eat one most days as part of my breakfast, mostly because they are easy to eat on my commute. Are they healthy? Eh, I dunno, there are probably better and worse options out there. They sure do taste good, though.

  • 170 calories for 8 g of protein doesn't impress me.  I've been tempted to buy these but have held off for this reason.  I'd rather have...

    1/8 c wheat germ (1.5 g fat, 50 cal, 2 g fiber, 3 g protein)
    1 c raspberries (1 g fat, 65 cal, 8 g fiber, 1 g protein)
    6 oz. Chobani plain (0 g fat, 100 cal, 0 fiber, 18 g protein)
    215 calories, 2.5 g fat, 10 g fiber, 22 g protein

    Kashi Bar:
    170 calories, 5 g fat, 5 g fiber, 8 g protein

  • There are better and worse options.  At the end of the day, probably healthier than what many would choose.

My kid sometimes eat one for breakfast so there is that.

  • eh, if we are out of fruit for the week, I might grab one of these but I tend not to buy them since I used rely on them too much.

I rather have my dark chocolate pieces instead of the Kashi bar

  • I've been doing the muscle milk light bars - they have 15g of protein and 170 calories.  This is what both my trainer and my nutritionist recommended.  I've been getting the chocolate/peanut/carmel one and it's really good.
  • Like PP said, depends on your comparison.  I was eating one of those daily for years - it was either that or another store-bought bar.  Then I started making my own granola bars and eating more fruits.  I still like the taste of them, but I think for me, it is not the healthiest option anymore.

  • I eat them occasionally.  I think they're fine as a snack.  Like others said, there are better and worse options out there.
