WW the Nesties Do?

M's phone died a horrible death today so I now have to make a decision re: a Smartphone. Yikes!

Do I want one, or not?

I've always said no because I'm generally either at work or home, and both places I have unrestricted internet access.

If you have it, what do you use it for? Do you think it's worth an extra $30/month?

Re: WW the Nesties Do?

  • I use mine all the time.  You saw how devastated I was when mine died while you guys were here.  I google EVERYTHING so thats something besides being obsessed with fb!

  • I have it..and love it..but I definitely dont NEED to have one.  But I'm not sure I could go back now!  I just like being able to look things up whenever I want...and the apps and because I have it, I make sure I use it a lot. But really...I don't know that it's worth the $30 a month, in general.
  • I love having one when on the go. Just looking for restaurants or stores around us if we want to try something new or specific while we're out for the day. And it's also been great when traveling and finding places. And I love google maps when we don't have our gps with us. I seriously hate my BB Storm 2 as a whole, but I can't imagine going back to a plain phone again. Our contract is way up, and we've been debating for months now whether we'd both get iPhones or Droids and what carrier to go with. T has never had a smart phone and isn't allowed to take his phone into work, so he thinks right now it would be a waste for him, but I still think he'd enjoy it while not at work. And I am permanently attached to my iPad, so I can only imagine how attached I'd be if I had a better smartphone too.

  • I think we're almost at the point where you have to have one.  I don't know what I did without it.  Led a simpler life, apparently, but they sure are freaking handy.

  • I use the google navigator for directions all the time and have completely given up my GPS. Facebook I use occasionally. I do google for info a lot on my phone and I like the places app to find new things that are around.

  • I still don't have one! I have my iPad that I use at home. It would be nice to have but right it now with me sah we don't want the extra expense.

  • Do it. It is worth the $30. It makes traveling so pain free.

  • I personally love my iPhone.   I use it a ton when out of the house/away from a computer.  We have the Navigon GSP app for it too which is awesome.

  • Even without a GPS map, the Map function that comes pre-loaded on it is as good as a normal GPS.  We rarely use our TomTom anymore.

  • I juuust got my first smartphone (iphone) in January... and I agree with the girls... it makes a lot of things simpler. If I was on a super tight budget, I could live without it... but seriously, I can drop $30 easily anywhere. When I'm standing in line, I can get a work email done that I dont have to do later, or if I'm waiting at the dr's office, I can respond to posts on FB or here... and stuff, it actually alleviates. Also, when you're at home on WiFi, you dont use your data so you could just get the smallest data plan and be fine. I have 2G and I dont come close. Everything is easier, from checking voice mails to texting to having the phone set reminders for you, your calendars, etc... love it... could you live without it? Of course! But why, lol?

  • I'm the oddball. I got an iPhone about a year ago and I didn't like it. I tried taking it back but they wouldnt take it. Since rusty quit his job and gave back his work cell phone he is using it. He isn't in love with it but it is handy for him to get emails on the job site.
