For those who may not have heard about the big to do on some of the national boards, the new nest format has also caused some other problems via pinterest.
The Nest has it's own pinterest account and has been pinning pictures that some individuals post on the boards to their nest board and linking it to the nest forums. There's been issues because it is giving credit to the nestie username, which a lot of individuals don't want being shared. So far it's mostly been pictures of recipes and decor. Rather than linking to an individual's blog, it's linking to the board and therefore giving away people's identities.
Apparently if you don't want the Nest to pin any pictures that you submit on the boards then you need to email them at: feedback@thenest.com.
Re: Big FYI
Who in the hell decided this was a good idea. Surely the see the lengths people go to keep themselves anonymous on these boards, but WTH let's go ahead and link FB, Twitter, and Pinterest with every single post. No one will mind.
EDIT: My email to them:
Please do not pin anything to your public Pinterest board from the account blueandgold749. I don't know how you thought this was a good idea to begin with, but I'd like to formally withdraw my Nest name from that list.
I wanted to get snippy(er), but thought better of it.
I'll send one soon too... I just cannot believe that they would think this is a good idea! How many times has the issue of privacy come up on these boards!?!
ETA: Here is a perfect example, their pet board:

And yet you don't see them taking down any of the usernames already on there. I did see Kate marked on some of their food posts.
Here's their newest response:
Because some of our users were upset about their photos being pinned from the message boards, moving forward we will not be pinning community photos from users who we have not received permission from first. Our intention was never to reveal users' personal information, but to promote the boards and help them grow.
If any users have questions about this, please ask them to email me at feedback@thenest.com.
Thanks!
There was a huge uproar yesterday about it on What's Cooking.
So stupid.
