I'm not sure if it's the seller's or their agent . . . but someone's a bit crazy! The agent has been calling our REA nearly non-stop asking for updates (I'm talking multiple times a day) and now she's contacted not only our REA, but also our broker, and the attorney that did the P&S . . . she's freaking out because we have applied with 2 separate banks for the mortgage (which our REA told her 2 weeks ago) so the second bank (finally) set up an appraisal for today. The short story about the 2 banks is that 1 of them does portfolio loans and we were unsure if the original bank would come through since it was unclear if we'd get 1 piece of paperwork that we need to close in time (we got it today) . . . our mortgage commitment (from the beginning) is needed on this coming Monday - which we'll have by then most likely. But, it seems really unreasonable for them to be hounding all of the people involved on our side continuously . . . I can't wait for this deal to be done to be rid of these crazy people!

Re: crazy sellers . . .
A squeeky wheel gets oiled, right? I'm not saying that calling multiple times a day is really needed, but it's her job to make sure this deal goes through. If it was my agent, I'd want her following up too (considering Monday is the deadline).
I agree with the pp... Maybe calling multiple times a day is a little excessive but closing on the house requires you to get a mortgage. They probably want to make sure it's going to get done on time. Maybe they are buying a house that is dependent on closing on this sale.
You have to look at it from their position too- their buyers are down to the last day to get a required piece of paper and it seems that you were uncertain if that would work out. If you didn't get it then there is no sale which means whatever plan they have would have to change. I was nervous my buyers financing wasn't going to come through as well and I think they only applied at one bank. To me (from a seller) applying at multiple banks for the actual mortgage to come through woud make me question if it's going to get secured. Like maybe something is wrong with your credit that you might not get approval from one bank. Just things to think about from the other side!
Totally agree with this. The sellers want to make sure this deal is going thru and if it is not they want to know so they can move on.
I have to agree with everyone else...I don't blame the seller at all. All of this is happening at the very last minute, and I would have had my realtor hounding you as well. My closing isn't taking place for weeks, and the buyers have already done their appraisal and secured their mortgage. My closing is on a Tuesday, and we'll be moving out of the house on the Saturday prior. I would be irate if the closing didn't take place as scheduled, since we've already put deposits on a new place, movers, and storage based on the closing date. I would not want to move if there was a chance the closing was not going to happen.
They are far from crazy.
I have to agree with the other posters. Sorry, but I don't think they are crazy. Calling multiple times a day may be excessive--but even then, maybe they are being told we'll know in an hour and two hours later, they call to follow up. As a seller, if I knew you had applied to multiple banks for your mortgage, I would be worried that you had some reason to believe that you would not qualify--which would obviously have a direct impact on me.
