Hikerbeth...

Hope you're on. Just looking for some more pointers for tomorrow if you're around. I got the step off the box thing. I think that's a fab idea. Did you do an actual push press each time? Switch to split jerks or anything similar? What about T2B? Did you tape or chalk like crazy? Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks much lady!

Re: Hikerbeth...

  • I would recommend doing a push jerk each time (even if you think it feels like overkill in the beginning).  That bar gets heavier in the later rounds and the jerk will save your shoulders. . . I didn't. . . that was my rookie mistake and why I didn't get 300.  I'm going to try again on Sunday with the jerk from round 1.

I did a light chalk before each round of T2B and I had a bit of tape on to protect some old tears.

Try to go straight through on each set of work for a while.  Take your breathers as you're walking from the box to the barbell and then from the barbell to the bar.

It takes a lot of energy to get that barbell back from the ground, so if you need a little breather, try to do it with the bar racked instead of dropping it.  That being said, I absolutely had to drop it and take a little breather in the later rounds.

If you think you might fail a T2B, take a break instead of attempting it so you don't waste the energy getting "close but no cigar."

    Good luck!!

  • Thanks much! These are great tips! We shall see how it goes tomorrow! Eeek.

Good luck!  I agree with Hikerbeth, especially re: the chalk and tape.  The push press/T2B combo ripped the shiit out of my hands yesterday and I desperately wish I'd taped or worn wraps or started chalking right out of the gate.
