...please help.
I had a root canal re-treatment done this past Wednesday. After the numbing medication wore off, I felt fine, a little tender, but not too bad. Well, yesterday, and especially today it feels really sore/tender and swollen. It hurts to even open my mouth and feels hard to swallow, as in, it feels swollen and so it makes it a little difficult to swallow if that makes sense.
Anyway, I have searched online and they say it's normal to experience some soreness/pain/swelling but if it gets too bad to go get it checked. Since it's Saturday, I don't feel like calling my endodontist into his office just to tell me everything is fine. So I figured I'd ask you ladies if you have had this done, that you could share your experience so I can get a little more insight on if my condition is normal or dangerous.
Thank you so much! I'm really hoping there's someone to help.
ETA: Also, the pain has gradually gotten a little more intense each day. I was prescribed a generic Vicodin, but the first few days I just took Advil and then last night I took Vicodin. I think the Advil helped more, actually.
Re: If you've ever had a root canal re-treatment...
What's the harm in calling?
Sorry you're in so much pain, that really sucks. I really hate getting my teeth worked on. I would just call. Teeth are important, don't rely on a bunch of internet strangers, no matter how awesome we are!
I just had dental surgery, so I feel your pain. My surgeon gave me his home number and told me to call! I'd say call.
I had a completely different procedure, but days 3/4 were by far the worst.
Stan- It is so painful. I had forgotten how brutal root canals are. I thought I was going to feel great with no pain and life was going to be happy. Haha And you're right, day 3/4 are always the worst. I remember feeling that way with different procedures. Thank you for reminding me about that.
Thank you again, for your support/advice!
