One week away from AU/NZ with question!
Hey Ladies - We're leaving in one week and one day so today will be spent packing. So what is the weather like in Australia/New Zealand right now? I'm assuming mostly shorts/tank top weather? (we'll be in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Aukland, NZ)
Thanks much!

I really hope you enjoy your time here!
I agree with Amy. It's been crazy weather-wise around Melbourne. Last weekend we had the heater on and were wearing coats and jackets and this weekend it's hot and humid and I have the A/C on. Definitely plan to dress in layers, and a waterproof lightweight jacket wouldn't be a bad addition. But in general, Melbourne is one of those places where "if you don't like the weather, wait five minutes."
And on the whole, I have found Australia much less formal than the US. Pack a comfortable pair of walking shoes, and a nice pair of comfortable flats and you'll be good for any occasion.
crazy weather on the east coast right now (we're about 4 hrs south of brisbane). It's hot, then chilly, then hot. Technically, it's autumn right now, but nothing like a Michigan autumn. I've worn long pants a few times, but mostly for the mozzies, not so much for the cold. I think there was 1 chilly evening and 1 chilly morning that I wore pants vs shorts.
Oh, and I agree - much less formal than the US, though in cities, there are probably still places you'll like to dress up. I always find my clothes from working/living in a city at home are way too dressy for the country town we're in over here.
Casual skirts are very common though, esp in the tropical areas. Take at least 1 pair of non-thong sandals, as some places/pubs in cities won't let you in w/ thongs (flip flops). dh and I were kicked out of a pub on St Patty's in Adelaide about 10 yrs ago. I went back in to let the Irish ppl we met know we had to ditch and they loaned us their shoes to get back in through the bouncers. lol.
Have a wonderful trip!
