DIY - Paint for bassinette?

My Dad saved the bassinette that they used when I was born.  He is going to repaint it, replace the linens and cushion.  My question is what type of paint should he use?  I'm looking for something somewhat green, since peanut will be so up close and personal with it.  Any suggestions, or what did you use?

  • I haven't used it before, but the first kind of paint I thought of is milk paint.  Totally safe and no odors whatsoever.  Not sure how it will hold up and if you would need to seal it, though.  I would probably use it and not seal it for the most "green" application and save some for touch ups if needed.  Baby won't fit into a bassinet by the time they would be chewing on it, right?

Congrats and have fun with the decorating!

Once in a while you get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

I agree with the milk paint. Casein-based paints used to be the only paint there was for this type of thing, and so if this is an antique, it will be more authentic in addition to being green.

Would milk paint be expensive? I have heard of Krylon.
