Milan - Last Supper tickets or tours

We'll be in Milan in late May, and I know we need to book our tickets to see the Last Supper in advance.  We're a group of five.  I'm having a hard time finding a reputable website to purchase tickets.  It seems that for every site or company there are multiple negative reviews online about problems with the tickets or sketchy credit card issues.

Any recommendations for companies or websites to purchase advance tickets to the Last Supper?  We're willing to purchase the tickets separately, or as part of a half-day tour or something like that.

Thanks!

Re: Milan - Last Supper tickets or tours

  • Our TA booked the tours for us, but the one we had in Milan was provided by Zani Viaggi. It was a half day tour I believe and they took us to the most popular spots in Milan and the end of the tour we went and saw the Last Supper. This was probably one of the best experiences we had in Italy, it was just breathtaking and it felt so surreal seeing it in person.
  • It's been a few years, but we did not book our tickets in advance.  We just bought them right at the Last Supper place and went in with a group.
  • I too had difficulty purchasing our tickets several months ahead of time. This is the official website: http://www.vivaticket.it/?op=cenacoloVinciano

Unfortunately, they didn't have availability on the day we were scheduled to be in Milan. Additionally, I could never reach a representative each time I tried to call them over the phone. I later found out that many large tour groups and third parties tend to eat up the majority of the tickets as soon as they are released. So, we ended up booking through this third party website (http://www.tickitaly.com/), although it cost three times the cost of a regular ticket.

During high season, I don't think it is as easy as it once was to purchase tickets on the same day as your visit. We saw multiple people being turned away during our visit.

I have an entry in my travel blog on Milan here: http://wanderlusttraveler.blogspot.com/2012/02/milan-italy-sightseeing-dining-and.html

What did you think of the tour itself?

  • We got our tickets from Viator (we also took a tour of the city with them.) Definitely get them in advance. When we were there, they weren't selling any at the door and there were people outside trying to buy our tickets from us, offering us double, etc.

  • Thanks guys! We decided to go with the Zani Viaggi half day tour including the Last Supper.  The tour gets pretty good reviews online and sounds like a good overview of Milan.

Sorry for such a late reply but I'm glad you're going with them! H and I really liked the tour. The bus was nice and comfortable and our guide was friendly and was very well spoken in English. He was also very knowledgeable. The Last Supper was definitely my favorite of that tour. Like PPs say, there are times it's hard to get tickets at the door as they are always reserved by tour companies.
