Anybody do Chalkboard Paint?

I just painted one wall of my mudroom in chalkboard paint, same color as the rest of the walls.
My question(s):
1- Did you paint more than one coat? Having made my own paint, I am concerned because it was SO hard mixing all of the grout. I want to be sure that it covers.
2- When you "prime" it, did you use the same color chalk as the paint? Or does it not matter?
Any comments having done this yourself?

I think I did a second coat. I used an old hand mixer to mix in the grout... genius!
I used kilz primer b/c I was painting on a cookie sheet and I wanted to be sure it was going to stick. I also 'seasoned' it with white chalk, b/c that's what I had
Ah, thanks! I thought about a mixer (I did use a mixing bowl). So I am off the re-mix and paint a second coat!
