I feel guilty.

I am hiring a housecleaner. I am able bodied and I only work one job. It is just me, BF and two dogs living in the home.

However, we cannot manage to keep the house clean. We both do not like to clean and we argue over whose turn it is. So rather than argue and spend time doing things that we both hate, we are hiring some. We can afford it and we agree on it but I still feel guilty about it. Someone make me feel better about my decision to be a lazy ass about it!

Re: I feel guilty.

  • I am incredibly jealous!! I've been thinking about hiring someone to clean my bathroom (I HATE cleaning bathrooms) but wonder if someone would even bother taking on a small job like that.  I can manage the rest of it (the kids help also) pretty easily (although I don't really dust much..hmmmm).

Anyway, my BFF and her BF hired a cleaning person and she absolutely loves it! She loves how clean things get and how they have a little extra time to spend together since they're not always busy when they get home from work.

So to recap, I think it's awesome! Big Smile

  • Don't feel guilty. If you can afford it and it will make your life easier, go for it.

  • Thanks, ladies!

The best part is, it is someone that I used to work with (and trust) who is going to come for 3 1/2 hours and is doing it for $60! That is a steal in my book!

  • Don't feel guilty at all! If you can afford it and it will save you and your bf from the same fight, do it! Don't look back!

Doris, I don't know if you are active on facebook but that is where I "advertised" and had 3 names in the span of 15 minutes.

Really?? That's spectacular! I'm motivated now....or, uh, should I say I'm motivated so I don't have to be motivated anymore?!? Stick out tongue

  • It's just me, and I'd pay someone good money to come do my laundry every week. Fo'sho'.

  • Thank you for reminding me that I need to look into that.  I HATE cleaning, with a passion.  Of course, I just want my bedroom, my study, and my bathroom cleaned out of the whole (huge) house, so hopefully the people are ok with that.  Do you have to be there when they clean?  Or do you just give them a key or what?
  • I live alone with no one to clean up after but myself and the cat, and I have someone come in once a month. She lives in the apartment beneath mine so it couldn't be more convenient and she does a great job. I leave my key under the doormat with a check and she cleans while I'm at work. My feeling is weekends are short and go by so fast, I don't want to spend them scrubbing the tub. So if it's in your budget, don't feel bad about it.

She wants to come on Saturday mornings. So if I am there, I am there. If I am not, then I am not. That is why I want someone that I can trust. I would probably just leave a key under the doormat if I wasn't home.

  • It's just me and DD and I have a cleaning lady.  Like a PP said, weekends are short and my time is precious.  Especially my time with DD.  My cleaning lady comes once a month and she only charges $60.  It's sooooooooooooo worth it to me!  I don't feel the least bit guilty about it.

  • I definitely wouldn't feel guilty about it. If it will make your life easier, and you can afford it - go for it!

An old roommate and I (the friend I stayed with with the stbxh and I first separated) hired a cleaning service and it definitely improved our relationship. No more arguing about who's turn it was to wipe down the counters, or vacuum, etc.

  • I am going to check around in my neighborhood to see if I can afford one myself.  I never really get around to the deep cleaning because I am constantly picking up after my 17months son.

    It would be soooooooo nice.
