Soda Stream?

Does someone on this board have one? What do you think about it?

Re: Soda Stream?

  • We don't have one but good friends of ours do. They love it and have had nothing but great things to say about it. We considered purchasing one for a day but neither one of us drink enough soda to make it worth it, in my opinion.

Sorry, I couldn't be of more help.

    Anniversary
  • We have one and we really like it (esp. M, who totally thought I was nuts for buying it for my birthday last year).

I got it because we're not big soda drinkers. We usually only buy soda if we have people over and then whatever doesn't get drunk ends up going flat. Or, I'd buy a pack of Coke to make rum and coke one night, drink one and the rest sit there until we pawn them off on someone. Having the soda stream makes is super easy to make some when we have guests or when we only feel like making a little bit.

I also like that there are more natural-ish options for syrups than all the crap that are in "real" soda and that you're reusing the bottles so there's less waste.

If you're super picky about your soda flavors, I would say find somewhere to try a few of the soda stream flavors before you buy one. They're not exactly like the name brand.

  • One of my friends has one and loves it, although she doesn't drink soda. She uses it to make seltzer water and has the bottle with her everyday. According to her, she's saved a ton of money already and she's only had it a few months since it's the only thing her and her husband drink at home.

These are 2 big reasons that Ricky has pointed out. He was comparing ingredients and labels. We also fill our recycling bin very quickly with his bottles. I generally only drink soda when we go out to eat so its much more for him.

    - It was suggested on my other board to exchange the CO2 at BBB and use a coupon so it would be $10 instead of whatever it is normally.

I guess we will soon be the proud new owners of a Soda Stream.... now where to put it in my already packed kitchen...
