I have family in Maine, I'd love to live there, though I could never convince H. He hates the cold and is whiney about it. 
I've seen a lot of military surprise homecomings. It wouldn't work on me. I always have my back to the corner and my face to the door. Looking for terrorists, criminals, various other threats, and husbands.

I love so much about that house. And that price is ridiculous. Almost as ridiculous as that kitchen.
I grew up off of a Military Road.
Omg the wallpaper. My IL's (who are from Maine) are huge fans of wallpaper. I don't know why it always shocks me to see funky paper, but it does! That's a gorgeous house, but Houlton, ME is....umm.....lacking.
Who needs a job? I've decided to invest really well instead.
It's 3.5 hours from my family in Maine, and on the border of New Brunswick! I'm sold!
There is no DIY project I love more than removing wallpaper. And I married a very handy fellow. Before he joined the MC, he laid hardwood (lol) on yachts professionally and was a professional painter! He is so useful!
I live in Maine currently, been here all my life, but definitely NOT in the Houlton area. But your last part about it 'lacking' made me LOL.
It's always the houses East of Nowhere that are dirt cheap. In the Greater Portland area you can but a shed for that amount... Lame!
It's so dark and depressing. The opposite of cozy, which I think I'd need living there. Plus, there's the old lady wallpaper. Oh, and the nasty carpet.
My grandparents have a condo in boothbay, but they only go in the summer. It's lovely visiting them
