So, about a month ago I asked my aunt (who has worked in HR for various corporations for about 20 years) for help with my resume, since I want to get a job non-kitchen/cooking related, but don't really know how to go about doing it. I sent her my resume and a cover letter I had been using as a template. She said both sucked. So since then, I have not gotten anything from her except lecturing about how finding a job IS a full-time job, and tailoring your resume to the position, etc. She tells me that I need to describe skills in a way that other (non-restaurant) employers are attracted to my resume. She doesn't/won't get that if I knew how, I wouldn't be asking her for help, and she won't show me any examples. She says that's "doing my homework." I'm really frustrated and thisclose to just saying F it, forget I asked.
Anyone out there an HR person, who can maybe give me a hand?
Thanks for listening. ![]()

Re: Vent/help needed
I'm not in HR, but I've been helping friends/family with their resumes, cover letters and resignation letters for a couple years now. I work closely with my HR department, so I have some background knowledge in what they look for in a recruit.
Feel free to send them along to me: jillmariesabin at gmail
