Running shoe question

Yes, I've been fitted at a real running store, I'm looking at 2 different pairs

Pair 1 Saucony Women's Grid Fastwitch 5 Running Shoe

Pair 2 Saucony Grid Fastwitch 5

  • I'm thinking they are the same shoe?
  • Also I heard that Saucony's run small?
  • Do you recommend any other shoes for someone that overprotates?

 Thanks girls

Re: Running shoe question

  • As far as I can tell they're the same shoe, just different color.

I overpronate and I like Brooks Adrenalines.  Others are happy with Asics GT-2170s, Mizuno Wave Inspires, Nike Lunarglide.  I would hesitate to buy any shoe online I hadn't tried on, but both Amazon and Zappos have excellent return policies, so you should be OK.

  • It's the same shoe, different colors.

That shoe is a road racing flat designed for a mild to moderate over-pronator. Many people also use it as a lightweight trainer. Looking for similar models in other brands, I would also check out the Brooks ST5 Racer (http://www.brooksrunning.com/Racer-ST-5/100018,default,pd.html) and the ASICS DS-Racer (http://www.asicsamerica.com/footwear/running-shoes/gel-ds-racer-9-t266n-womens/)

  • I have saucony's and I love them. The ones I have do not run small. As pp said i wouldn't buy online without trying them on first. I agree same shoe different color.

  • I got my mizunos online at runningwarehouse.com. I went ahead and did it bc I over probate, had heard they're good for it, am not a fan of brooks, and couldn't find any in person. They have a great return policy if they don't work

  • I like the Fasttwitch for track workouts and shorter distances. Like Shelby said they are a racing flat. I tried using them for long distance training and well, it was not pretty.
  • I also over pronate and I wear the Mizuno wave inspires.  I just bought my third pair of wave inspire 7's on amazon yesterday for $50.  I don't know what the return policy is (but since it's my third pair, I don't think I'll have to return them, I heart my shoes.)  They are so inexpensive because now there is a wave inspire 8, so a newer model.  It doesn't really matter to me which model I run in, so I was happy to buy the 7's one more time.

  • Another overpronator.  I had been running in the Mizunos but they stopped being a good shoe for me every 3 months so I am now wearing the Brook Adrenalines and love them.  I liked both but for me, the Brooks are just a better fit.
  • i started with saucony's for my first  and second pair of real running shoes and found that i needed a little break in period before i could go much further than 3 miles.  i switched to Brooks for my third and fourth pair and adore them.  i have the brooks ravenna and the brooks pure flow. the ravenna is a bit heavier.  I ADORE the pure flow. i do believe that is the shoe i will buy from now on.

  • I overpronate. I like my Saucony's for crosstraining, but much prefer my Brooks Adrenaline for running. I'm not sure what it is, but they just feel better for some reason.

  • I wear an 8 in Nike and my Sauconny's are also an 8. I've only owned this one pair, but they (obviously) don't run small.
  • Thank you for all your ladies input.
