Our first choice girl name is Harper. We've had this picked for some time now. My niece's name is Harlow. If we have a girl, are these names too similar? Will my sister be p!ssed? [Poll]
Re: S/O names, a polle
What one child is named doesn't have any baring on what another child can be named. Just don't name all of your kids the same thing.
My name is the female version of my youngest cousin's name on my mom's side. There are two aunts with the same name and two uncles with the same name on that side. It doesn't matter.
If I didn't have Lorelai, Harper would be my next choice. If I lose my mind and have TWO kids and they both end up being girls, the second will be Harper.
So 1) I loooove the name and 2) It's not too similar to Harlow.

I think they're both cute names, sound cute together, and aren't too similar!
I had a teacher named Roberta. Her brother was named Robert. THAT would be wrong.
I see nothing wrong with having two cousins with H names. I really like the name Harper.
Which reminds me, my parents' neighbors named their daughters Haven and Hannerly. So long as you don't do that you'll be fine.
I like the name a lot, but just be warned it's super popular. I have about 73 ish facebook friends.
There are 5 Harpers. As long as you're ok with that, I see no issue with Harlow/Harper.
Yesterday we were talking about boys names and he said "I like the name Joseph... Joe for short"
Now it's official, I can NOT have a child with this man! At least not a boy.

Really? Damn! H saw one this weekend on FB that was a friend of a friend. We don't want something super popular.
I have atleast three Harpers on my fb- two girls, one boy.
It was one of our favorites too.
If you don't want something super popular, it might be best to avoid Harper. I never heard the name before David Beckham used it, but now I've heard it several times and I think it's only gaining popularity. I actually really like the name, and my husband does too (and it's rare that we both like a name). But I think we're going to go with a different choice, as I'd like to avoid names that are too trendy. (I'm kind of hoping that the name will lose some popularity if we wait a couple of years, and maybe we use it on our second child).
