Hi! I have done a lot of lurking here and thought I would finally introduce myself. I am Jo. I am married to Sam and have two awesome kids named Marshall and Elizabeth.
We have been together for about 7 years and married for almost 4 years. Sam has been in the Air Force for about 14 years.
Right now he's stationed at Fairchild AFB and Sam is on a controlled tour (no deployments!) as an instructor. His AFSC is aircraft maintenance (avionics specifically).
I am a stay at home mom and absolutely love it! I am originally from Nebraska and am a big Cornhuskers fan! Hmmm...I'm not sure what else to tell you about me, so just ask if you have any more questions!
And now for my question. Sam is looking at applying for a special duty of being a Missle Facility Manager at F. E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne, WY. So I am wondering if anybody here has any experience with that job or the area in general. I'm sure that I will like Wyoming, but I'm not sure what to think about the position itself.
So anyway...hi!
Re: Intro and a question
I'm Jen and my H is a missiler at MAFB in Montana. I don't know really anything about FM jobs or F.E.Warren, but I just wanted to say hi.
I want to say that the shifts are similar to my husbands. He works a 24 on/48 off kind of shift. He is in the field roughly about 36 hrs if you including driving to the sites and back for a shift. Not 100% sure on that though. (H isn't here to ask at the moment). If so, it does suck because there is never really any sort of consistency to his shifts. Nights alone suck, but you get used to it and start a new routine for those nights. But its not the worst, so I don't complain. : ) Like anything else you just adapt and move on.
The most beautiful place on earth to me: Glacier NP

But she will be coming back in June! ;-)
I am not affiliated with the military so I can't answer your questions about the job part of it, but I was born and raised, and still live in Cheyenne. I love it here and it's a wonderful place to raise my kiddos. The fi and I both are actually Cheyenne natives. There's not a lot to do here, but we are close enough to Fort Collins and Denver that there is plenty to keep you busy with the kids.
ETA: Being a Husker fan here might be dangerous though! ;-)
