Who to book snorkeling trip with in Maui?

I may give up on the whale watching since the whales will be headed north in April...and we will be there April 12-20...

So now onto snorkeling..I've heard Trilogy Molokani trip is pretty good..Are there any more?

Thanks. Sorry for all the questions but we are 4 weeks out and I'm getting VERY excited!!!!

Re: Who to book snorkeling trip with in Maui?

  • We booked with teh company "Hula Girl" (or that may be the name of the boat) and had the MOST incredible time.

  • We did Trilogy snorkle trip to Molokini in 09.  I really enjoyed it, the snorkling was good at both spots we visited, we did some sailing and the crew was very pleasant/fun. I liked that the boat did not seem crowded.
  • We went with Trilogy back in October and it was awesome, had a great time, I highly rec them.  They are very professional, helpful, and informative.  We did the morning Molokini Crater & Turtle Town snorkeling tour.  Molokini was pretty cool, not as many fish as we thought there'd be but Turtle Town was awesome, got right up close to a few turtles.

  • I highly recommend Maui Eco Tours. They are an eco friendly company who doesn't take you to the tourist spots (that are all ruined by the way). They have knowledgable guides who educate you during the trip, and explain conservation efforts of the island, the ecosystem, etc. We loved it.

It's a kayak/snorkel trip. There are several offerings depending on ability level. Check out their website. We were so happy with the trip we did. The group was small, we had 2 guides and went to secluded places with no one around. We saw some extremely rare fish and tons of turtles. Stay away from Molokini Crater and Turtle Town. They're overrun with tour groups, and have basically been ruined by the boats that frequent them.

  • DH and I went with the Pride of Maui when we were there last November. I wrote of a review of them in my blog that you can access here. Definitely a fun experience all around.

  • I agree, Molokini isn't what it used to be :(

Make sure you go in the morning though - sometimes the water gets choppy in the afternoon and they go to "alternate" locations.  It happened to us once and it was really disappointing.
