i before e except after c.... c for "crap!!"

So, I ****ed up. I thanked a headmaster for confirming that they had received my application materials. Except, stupid, tired, typing quickly on a Spanish keyboard me misspelled received.

Totally a bad idea to e-mail saying, "Oh dear, I see I misspelled 'received.' I'm very embarrassed. Please accept my apologies." Right? ****.

Lesson learned. Don't write important e-mails on Spanish computers when tired.

  • I would lose sleep over that kind of thing too. I guess it's not going to hurt to send a quick email. Worst case scenario the headmaster thinks, "who the eff cares?" and closes the email. Not a big deal. He/she will remember you all the more. And for a decent enough reason.

  • They probably didn't even notice.  Everyone makes typos sometimes. I don't think it will reflect poorly on you.But like Potato Pie said there is probably no harm in sending a quick email.  I probably wouldn't, but if it would make you feel better just go for it.

  • I just thought it was ironic that I'm applying to teach a language (not English, thankfully!) and I can't even spell my native language properly. Oops.

E-mail sent. I feel better now.
  • Sorry for the additional stress!

Honestly, if I were the headmaster I'd be more impressed with the Thank You than concerned about what was obviously a typo.  Typos happen, esp in email.  I am sure that he's far more interested in review your actual application materials anyway!

    Good luck with the job!
