@ Is this crazy? To Frankfurt and back in one day.

DH and I are supposed to be flown to Frankfurt this coming Monday to do some apartment scouting.  His company is setting up the appointments, but I am trying to decide if I should go.

I would love to go, but DD is exclusively BF so if I go she pretty much has to come with us or I will use up my tiny freezer stash in one day and have to deal with the PITA of pumping every couple hours.

Would it be totally nuts to take her on two flights in one day?  I would take the ergo or moby with me in addition to the stroller to make sure she gets her naps in while we're there.

  • We've taken DS to and from Dublin from in a day. Granted it's only an hour flight (but still have to get to and from the airport, etc.). It's super easy if your BF, you just need a diaper bag, your passports and you're good to go.
  • Since your H is with you and it's only one day, I say go. It's only one day.
  • Good to hear. I figured it would be alright, just a long day, but then I started second guessing. This will be her first time flying but I.am really not too worried about it. Thanks!

  • I would think it is very doable and I probably wouldn't even bring the stroller if your DD naps fine in the Ergo or Moby. At that age DD slept in the Ergo everywhere we went and with BF it will be easy. It probably isn't much different than when we fly to Europe: we have a real early flight out of CO and then we have a long layover and leave at 6 pm on the trans-Atlantic flight. At 4 or 5 months it should be easy. Plus I would think it would be important for you to get a lay of the land as well.

Good luck with the apartment hunting!

  • No advice, but sounds like you're going to go for it, so wanted to wish you good luck!  Hope there's lots of baby sleeping and not too much stress for Mom and Dad!

  • yea I'd go for it - if she is bfing then that makes it easier - and like pp said if she naps in the ERGO you might want to just bring that - might be easier if you have stairs to negotiate at apartments too

    GL!

Yeah I imagine you will be getting in and out of a car a lot plus visiting lots of apartments with stairs to manage.

  • The thing is I want to take her carseat and it snaps onto the stroller.  I know it might be easier witout the carseat and stroller, but I feel I should take the seat.  Although I do take her on public transportation without being strapped in here...Hmmm...

  • I would take it too if you're going to be driving around. And if she falls asleep in the car seat your DH can help carry it around!

FYI-The car seat snapped into the stroller counts as a normal stroller so you can take it right to the gate and no airline (not even Ryanair) charges for a stroller (they should also give you two luggage tags for it: one for the base and one for the seat).

  • This is very good information to have!

I remain undecided actually.  Last night I had it pretty clear I would bring DD with us, but MIL would like to watch her for the day and I'm starting to think that might work out better for all of us.  Although pumping every 3 hours isn't fun since that requires finding more privacy than just nursing her.

Take her with you, seriously it'll be much better for both of you. If you left her you'd spend the whole time worrying about her (it's a long time to leave her) you'll have to pump (a PITA especially if you are out and about). now E"s crying darn it!

If you're not going to be walking a lot (taking lots to cabs or renting a car) just take the car seat and ergo, a seat is lighter than a stroller to lug up and down stairs etc.

E's now almost 9 months and BF and I couldn't see leaving her for that long.
