Re: Babies and bumps (to-be)

  • Thanks so much for all the vibes and wishes yesterday, it means so much.  I didn't have a chance to post an update yesterday, but everything looks great!  Baby was measuring right on track at 8w5d, with a little heartbeat going at 165bpm.  We actually got to hear the HB this time, which was so amazing.  I let out such a huge sigh of relief when I saw that little flicker on the screen.  We could also see the little nubs of the arms and legs moving around a bit, which was so cool.

He did confirm just one baby, which we're totally happy with, and s/he would like to say hello to their Aug09 aunties:

    image

Ups: I'm still feeling great, with very minimal symptoms.  Next step is to book our NT scan in about 3 weeks.  We just bought tickets to fly back to NYC for Easter, and planning on telling all ILs and friends then, so we need to have the scan before we leave, and just hoping that nothing goes wrong between now and then.

Downs: none really to speak of!

  • Yay Sushi - I am so excited for you.  I was looking through out the day for an update, and had a huge smile on my face when I saw this today! Hello baby Sushi!

Ups: Does it count if I say the past 2 nights have been the first time I have slept completely through the since since the beginning of my pregnancy?

Anyhow, much of the same, they will be 20 months this weekend (yikes), and are trying to talk more, loving playing outside. They also have started to pick out a book each for story time before bed.

Downs: the fighting.  They are not even 2, and already are pushing each other over, stealing toys from one another, and I have caught a couple of hits to each other. Not fun.  Also, Christian has started having full on temper tantrums, throwing himself on the floor, screaming bloody murder if he doesn't get his way.

  • sushi- so glad things went good at your appt!

katsblaze- I totally get the fighting. P and Jordan fight like cats and dogs but yet neither of them can play without the other one.

Jordan has his first baseball practice in the new town we will be moving to in a couple of months. I am so excited and nervous. I hope he makes some friends before school starts. He has been practicing every afternoon at home I think he is ready to meet people.

P is finally starting to say a couple of things only when he wants to. He wants to live outside and its a fight to get him to come inside. I am sure he will be glad we have baseball practice three days a week so he can play outside. P is shaking his head no and yes which is nice even though he wont' talk it makes it a tad easier to communicate with him. When he starts to cry I can ask him if he hurt himself, if he is thirsty, hungry ect...I don't feel like I am just running around trying to make him happy. Although I will be very glad when he will talk to me.

  • sushi, that's awesome news!  I shall call s/he Nigiri.

reba, that's really exciting.  I think about you guys often.

34 weeks tomorrow!  Ahhhhh!!!  I have a month of work left.  This is weird.

Up: I've felt pretty good this week.  Some minor aches and pains, but nothing really bad.  I can tell when I'm walking too fast because things get sore, but slowing down and taking it easy makes that go away.  Derek came into the nursery last night while I was on the floor painting baseboard and told me how much he appreciates the work I'm doing, so that felt good.  Sometimes I feel like me not doing as much makes him grumpy, so it was nice to hear.

Downs: Not really any.  I'm sleeping pretty well, usually up 2 or 3 times a night, which I'll take.

I'm not sure where this fits, but my step dad is taking some maternity pictures for us on Saturday.  He's a very good photographer (has been taking courses to become a certified digital photographer) but I'd say his focus is usually more on wildlife and sports photography, so we'll see how they come out.  He seems excited about it though, and I certainly can't argue with the price!

Here's a picture from today, I'm feeling particularly bump-ish lately.  Sorry it's a little blurry, there was someone in one of the stalls, so I was trying to hurry!

  • sushi - so glad to see baby sushi!  Such great news

reba - that is so exciting!

Yesterday was my 35/35 day!  Here is the picture DH took...

    image

Tomorrow I have what I think should be my last every 2 week appointment and then next week I start going weekly.  DH is going to come with me for the first time and meet OB since he is on March break.  This is getting real!

Ups...baby has been really active the past few days.  I love just watching my belly move and freaking DH out with it.  He doesn't get to feel baby much, though, because baby will stop moving when he puts his hand there.  Since DH is off this week he is putting things together and I think he is going to install the baby seat today.

Still feeling pretty good in general.  No heartburn, sleeping has been about the same.  I definitely feel bigger and some days it just feels more difficult to get around but, hey, I am bigger.  Still running!  Got 3.2 miles in this morning before work!

Downs...my fall down the stairs.  But everything was fine so it wasn't that much of a down.  My back does get more sore after I run and I'm just going to play it by ear to see how long I continue to run.

Can't wait to hear all the updates and see more bumps!

  • It's going to be a baby explosion on here in the next few months. Wow. I can't believe how many of you are almost to the end. I'll live vicariously until we're ready for another.

Reba - I'm so excited to hear what you find out.

UPs: Jackson is now mimicking sounds, so we can get him to say dada, which melts Jay to the core. No momma, though. Jerk. He's also doing a lot of this.

    image

He eats like a grown man and always wants to do it himself, which results in this.

    image

Very thankful to have dogs around to clean up after him.

We've also had fantastic weather, so my daycare shot this gem the other day while they were hanging out.

    image

Downs: For once, there aren't any. I'm enjoying the crap out of this mom thing at the moment and can't wait to see what the next stages bring. I can see how people do the "one and done". I'm not sure I'd want to go back to the newborn stage, but we'll see.

  • Sushi - YAY for little Nigiri!

Reba - that's SO exciting. I can't wait to hear about updates.

Raynes - You look so cute!

Rx - You look amazing. Serious props for keeping up your fitness routine.

Here's my crappy bump pic. It's still looking largely like flab (probably because there is a layer of flab on top of the bump), and I'm pretty unenamoured with the way I look. One of my BF tells me she hated the way she looked until week 30, and I figure it's going to take me about that long to get there too... I'm 21w5d today.

    image

Ups: I've had less pelvic pain this week, so I've been able to get out and walk again (huzzah!). The Squiglet is kicking and punching a lot more now - especially when I'm seated and lean over... or, say, hunch over my computer desk.

Downs: The peeing. Oh, the peeing. I'm up 4-5 times a night right now (given that I've always been up to pee 2-3 times, I guess this isn't a huge increase), and have started planning trips based around where I know the bathrooms are. That's kind of annoying, to be sure.

  • Love the bumps, raynes and rx!

sushi - thanks for the update and photo.

reba - how exciting! I really hope this works out for you!

  • Sushi - Great news! Love the little photo.
Reba- How exciting. I'll be thinking of you guys.
I always enjoy seeing all the bumps and wee ones. So great.

We are on cycle three and if I am not KTFU this cycle we are taking next cycle off. DH is getting ready for finals and we will be moving, it would just be too much stress. That and the fact that if I did end up pregnant next cycle chances are our child would be born right around Christmas and that would be a relatively sucky birthday.

  • sushi - yay! so happy for you guys! baby sushi looks nice & comfy in there!

reba - thinking of you guys always.

nothing new to report this week. I'm feeling awesome lately, minus last night's lack of sleep... although that had nothing to do with pregnancy and everything to do with DH's snoring. my energy is definitely back and I'm ready to get sh!t done around the house.

I'm going to sit down this weekend and really do some hardcore research on baby gear. we're not fully registering until we know the sex, but I want to get an idea of what we'll be looking for.

UPS - feeling like myself again - only symptoms are the constant RLP and constipation, but even they are lightening up.

    DOWNS - nadda.

  • All these bumps are so cute, it *almost* makes me miss mine, almost!

reba-so happy to hear that, I think aboout you guys often!

Ups: Hayden continutes to smile more and more. I just love watching her personality. She is also STTN regularly. Now I just need to work on transitioning her to her crib. Ah, that seems so far away when in all reality it adds about 10 steps from her current location. I will probably wait a little long, at least til she is 4 months

Downs: She has had a bit of a cough and a runny nose. She doesn't seem to be bothered by it at all though. I'm hoping it's just a quick cold. I'm terrified of RSV, especially since she was born right in the middle of the bad season for it.

We finally got to go on a walk the other night, I'm hoping the weather stays good so that we can make this a regular thing.
    image

This is how Dad watches her, I like that she has her own personal heater. I guess they had some bonding time in the garage while J cleaned it.
    image

And one just because. I feel like she is saying "oh hello there" in this picture.

  • H has been teething something fierce the past 2 weeks, no naps has been the new thing. Last week I had to drive around for AM and PM naps to get him to pass out in the car seat and move him into the nursery. This week I have been out and about with him since the weather has been so lovely so that has saved my sanity. At least he finally has a tooth to show for it!

  • Downs are that Edmund is still sick. His cough just won't go away. I'm really hoping that he gets better by Saturday because I really don't want to miss out on the Sounders season opener because I have to stay home with the sick baby again. But if that is what I have to do I will do it and just watch the game on TV. I don't feel comfortable passing off a sick baby to a babysitter for the day.

Ups are that he is really moving. I guess that could be a down to since he gets into things so much easier now. But I love watching him chase the cats around the apartment. We ordered a second baby gate to block one side of the kitchen off with so that I can stop using these gigantic rubbermaid tubs to block them off that with. I ended up hurting myself trying to step over one of them.

    image

Here he is trying to get at the cat through the baby gate. She just kept giving him this you can't get me look.

    image

This is how he slept last night. I always find this position hilarious.

  • Sushi - so glad to hear that all is well with the LO!

Reba - I hope everything works out, I think about you often.

I love seeing the bumps, everyone looks so cute!

Ups - Today is my last day in 2nd Tri, so that is exciting.  She is really active most days and when DH puts his hand on my belly she likes to press against it or kick it.  He really loves "playing" with her.

Downs - Besides failing my glucose test and figuring out how to deal with GD, it has been a bit of a rough week.  Last weekend was the due date of pg#1, and while I am so happy and excited for our little girl, it still makes me sad to think about the baby we lost.

It was also a bit of a kick in the gut when I saw one of the girls from the pregnancy "orientation" of pg#1 who was about to pop.  During the orientation she asked the nurse if there was something she needed to do during this pregnancy because she smokes.  The nurse said, "Umm, quit", and her response was that it just wasn't that easy.  I know quitting is hard, but her ignorance and attitude pissed me off.  I definitely don't wish anything bad to happen to anyone, but it still stung to see that her baby lived and mine didn't.

I am so grateful for this little girl and our family and just try to focus on the future.

  • Hi all!

Late as usual since Wednesday is grandparent day. Anyway!

I love all the bumps! kaesha I don't care what you say, I think you look great.

sushi, glad your u/s went well!

snoopy, your pic of J feeding himself made me laugh out loud for real. He is so cute!

reba - That is wonderful! Keep us posted, I'm keeping all my fingers crossed for you!!

Ups: I'm loving this weather and the opportunity to take D out to the playground! He loved the first time on the swing:

    image

He is changing SO fast these days. In a matter of weeks, he popped his second tooth, started crawling, learned how to pull himself up to standing. And I'm pretty sure he's starting to sign "milk". He's eating like a champ too. We're trying to train him to STTN; I think we've successfully managed to get him back to a 5 hour stretch at the beginning of the night, and hopefully next weekend we can start trying to stretch it out longer.

Downs: Not much lately. He's been a pretty happy kid these days. Oh, I do think he's getting bored of his toys though.
