Anyone read the newest issue of Shape?
I got my issue last night and I am still pissed off at the "success story" of Holly Madison.
2 reasons: 1) At 5'5 being 111 pounds is under her ideal body weight. While I understand that some people have smaller frames than others, Shape has always used the real women for their success stories. How many average women can achieve this weight? 2) They mentioned in the article about 3 times how she lost it using NV!!! Seriously?! You are a health magazine and you promote someone losing weight with fatburners!
Ugh. So disgusted. Glad the subscription was free or I would ask for my money back.

Omg. I'm an inch taller than her and 24 pounds heavier. I don't care if you're built small, that's not a good weight. Do you think she can lift things?
I have a free subscription to Women's Health and it's the same kind of thing. Some of it is interesting, but all with a grain of salt. Unfortunately, the "health" magazines are just as bad about promoting unhealthy diets and medications as the other magazines.
Sometimes I think I'd be better off reading Men's Health.
And just think of how much of that weight is in her boobs!
I usually like Shape, but I was very disappointed at the Holly praise in this past issue. I bet a lot of their readers are. I know they switched editors within the last year (maybe a little longer?) and it seems like a lot more fluff now.

Yeah, I don't like the change in editors. I actually wrote into the mag this morning to express my displeasure.

I totally read my husband's Men's Health
I stopped subscribing to Shape last year because of this.
Health magazine is the same way. A few months ago they promoted a women who lost 50+ lbs on the cookie diet.
. Luckily that subscription ends in September.
Right now I have Runner's World and I really like that.

I don't have a problem with her weight at all -- she's barely 10 lbs below her healthy weight range and there are PLENTY of people who look fine and are healthy at 10 lbs above their healthy weight range, so it goes both ways.
However, the fact that they are touting a diet pill as her vehicle for success is both alarming and disappointing. How many people will read that and think it will work for them too? Sad and shameful.

The bolded is what really bothered me as well. As someone who looks/feels good just above my "normal bmi," I'm generally not bothered by being a bit under/over. And while she was never fat, I also appreciate showing someone get from a tad on the heavy side for them, to looking fabulous. But the diet pill hype was appalling.
I guess I would feel better about the weight if she did it in a healthy way. But that just gives the feeling of "Look, use fatburners and you can be uber skinny and a playboy model too!!!".
I wonder how many complaints Shape is getting today.....

I've never seen them promote pills before either, it was really disappointing to see that piece in there.
While I was reading it I thought it must be one of those pages that's really an ad but is made to look like an article... KWIM? Really irritating.
