s/o - First & Middle Names

What's yours?

Do you use your middle name regularly?

Are you named after someone/something?

Re: s/o - First & Middle Names

  • Laura Marie

No - I changed my middle name to my maiden name when I got married so I never use the Marie anymore.

My first name is after my great-grandmother.  The Marie is from my parents not knowing what to use and one of my cousin's had Marie has her middle name..so they used it.

  • Kate Marie

    Nope

My Mom, basically - she's Catherine Marie, but she wanted me to have a shorter name since my maiden name was really long

  • Yvonne Victoria

No, I always sign my MI in my signature though.

Yes, my mom is Victoria Alix, my middle name is her first name. I was supposed to be Lauren Diana, Lauren after my mom's brother Lawrence, and Diana after her sister Robin Diane. I didn't look like a Lauren Diana, so she named me my name and when my sister was born 13 months later she became Lauren Diana.

  • What's yours? Maria Evelina

Do you use your middle name regularly? Not anymore. I legally changed my middle name to my maiden name. However, my dad noticed my oil was overdue for a change and used my whole shebang!

Are you named after someone/something? Maria was my grandmother's name and Evelina was my mom's maternal grandmother.

In my family everyone is named after someone or inspired by someone. I'm big on meaningful names. In DH's family they are mostly "original" names and said nobody had the same name until he married me. His Nana (Mariah -- goes by Marie) and I obviously have very similar full names now..lol

-My whole mom's side is Marie, and my paternal grandmother was also Marie. Until I took S's last name my initials were MMM, which was 100% intentional by my parents. And yes, everything was monogrammed..and I had 3 friends in high school who were BBB, SSS and another MMM-go figure

  • Caitlyn Antoinette

I very rarely use my middle name. Mostly just for government forms and stuff like that.

I am named for the nurse who helped deliver me who was also a friend of my biological mother.

  • Nicole Renee

I don't use my middle name, ever. Not even the initial unless I have to. IT automatically put it in my e-mail for work and I am still PO'd about it.

Middle name is the same as my mom's best friend's. Not named after or on purpose, but I have a distant cousin, same age, named Nicholas. He has a sister named Brittany, as do I. It was on accident each time, but it's a family funny now.

  • Lena Marie

I use it all the time.

My mom really liked Lena Horne and she wanted something unique and that you couldnt make a nick name out of ) although Ithat still happened) I have met a lot of women my age who's middle name is Marie and I think that's reflective of Lisa Marie :)

I did find out I have a family member named Lena from a loooong time ago.

  • What's yours? Brittany Lee

Do you use your middle name regularly? Technically yes, since it's sorta my nest name. My dad calls me Brittany Lee sometimes, but other than that I don't use it regularly.

Are you named after someone/something?  Lee is after my maternal grandfather. I've always loved the spelling! Side note: Both of my siblings have middle names after a family member. I love this and I plan to continue it with my kids.

  • Rachel Marie (if you couldn't tell)

    Yes, I use it often.

Rachel is just because my mom liked it, Marie is for my mother's aunt.

  • My full name is Katie Lyn. I don't use it much, though my dad does call me Katie Lyn sometimes. My parents just liked the name, I wasn't named after anyone.

  • Brandi Lynn

I wouldn't say I use it regularly, but it is a staple in my name.  When I changed my last name, I still kept my middle name, so I have two middle names.  People seem very confused by that.

Not that I know of.  I'm pretty sure my parents just liked the name.

I did this too, but on most things they could only fit one middle name, so it's either Alissa maidenname lastname or Alissa Evelyn lastname.

So that answers the first question...Alissa Evelyn

I used to sign my middle initial all the time, now I use my maiden name initial when I sign. My mom or other family members used to say my full name (like when I was in trouble...haha). I used to not like it because it isn't really a popular name, but as I grew up I began to love it, and couldn't drop it when I changed my name, which is why I chose two middle names.

My middle name is also my grandmother's middle name, and I think it was my great-grandmother's middle name on the other side of the family, ironically.

That's weird. My initials were MMM before I was married as well. :)

  • Meaghan Marie

I hardly use my MN unless necessary. Sometimes I sign Meaghan M D*******.

My parents both really liked the name Meaghan and wanted a different spelling than the norm Megan. Marie is after my mom's middle name. I hope to pass it on to my daughter as well someday.

  • Kristina Rose

I used to hate my middle name. In high school, people would use it just to annoy me. Growing up, it only got used when I got in trouble. Some friends at work got a hold of my middle name and now a few refer to me simply as Rose. So yes, I guess I do use it. I also use my MI when I sign my name and fill out forms.

My maternal grandmother's name is Rosemary, my paternal grandmothers was Rose. Now Rose as a middle name is a family name (My sister has it, 2 cousins, and Miss Maggie.

  • First: Wendy Marie

    Middle: R**** Fernandes

Marie was my middle name.  I moved it into my first so I could still keep it after I got married.  Marie is after my mother, Mary Ann.  My sister's middle name is Ann.  I think I'm Wendy just b/c my mom knew someone else with a kid named Wendy and liked the name.  My mom had thought about Gwendolyn, so I suppose Wendy was a similar, but better, choice.

R**** is my maiden name.  Fernandes is a middle name from Marcelo's side of the family.  Most people on his dad's side have it as a middle name.  If we had kids that would be their middle name.  I added it in my name b/c I didn't want to be the odd one out.  I use the first part of my middle name regularly or just the R for the initial.

I like my long name, although it's confusing on my license since, for some reason, they felt the need to hyphenate the first name.  People looking at it also sometimes ask if Fernandes or L*** is my last name.

Yes, I use my middle name all the time. Many of my relatives call me by my first & middle name as well as I sign w/ my middle initial. I love my full name.

Yes, I am named after multiple generations on my Mom's side of the family.

  • I'm Lindsay Nicole

I never use my middle name.  I use my initial though on my banking and other things like that because there was more than one person with my same first name and maiden last name growing up.

Not named after anything significant, I think my parents just liked the flow.

    Sidenote....

I love love love Mackenzie's full name but doubt we will every call her with both names except for silly songs I make up for her.  I really wanted a "significant" middle name but we couldn't find one we liked (our mom's names are Orlene and Leanne, my sister already used my Grandma's name Anne, for her daughter's middle name).  Brynn kind of sounds like our two names (so lame I know), but we also just really liked the name.

  • I'm Marisa Renee.

I really don't use my middle name at all- it was used when I was in trouble or when my parents really wanted to get my attention, and every once in awhile my mom will still bust it out.  But that's it.  I don't usually sign my middle initial or name (I sign my name a ton for work), but do use my MI on legal documents.

My first name is a combination of both of my parents names (Marc and Lisa).  My middle name is just random.

B and I definitely are drawn to family names and will at least use a family name for the middle name of our kids, if not the first names too.
