We had the first part of our anatomy scan today, most of the appt went well, but as usual our stubborn little baby didn't want to cooperate fully. I have to go back on March 26 so they can finish up and get the images they are missing. The most exciting news from today's visit is I have an anterior placenta, explaining why I'm probably not feeling any movement yet, and might not for a few more weeks. And also the placenta is very close to the cervix, so they are concerned with placenta previa and are going to monitor it with a couple more ultrasounds. Baby also has a choroid plexus cyst (CPC), but they aren't concerned about it at all and say it will most likely resolve and will also keep an eye on it as well.
Other than that, baby looks great! It was so hard staying Team Green today. They had us close our eyes when they looked down in the area and when they were reviewing those shots again. But, we suspect since they saw it so fast that it may be a boy, which we have both been thinking since the beginning. We also thought a couple times we may have seen little boy parts, but we may have been wrong. Either way, we're thrilled baby is healthy and can't wait to see him/her again in a couple weeks! They didn't give us any pics today though, so no PIP
Re: Baby Update
Yay!!! Good luck with the CPC and placenta previa,
I had an anterior with B, and it was a little weird to not feel the kicks the same way I did with A, and my stomach never was as hard as it was with A-gained less and measured bigger.
FWIW, our tech with A took FOREVER to check the sex, and with B it was done in 2 seconds...you never know!!!!!
BTW-how close are you to DC? I'm going down in early June and I would love to see your belly-and say "hi" of course!
Ah, thanks for the info on the anterior placenta. I feel like my belly still isn't super hard, so maybe that's part of it. And yes, you never know, it could be a girl that was just cooperating with that part of the scan! We'll find out in 5 or so more months! Hopefully, I'll still stay strong at the next few u/s.
We're about 30 miles or so from DC, not too far, in fact we're thinking of going into DC this weekend or in the next few weeks to see the cherry blossoms. I'd love to see you too! Let me know when you'll be in the area and we'll try to plan something and meet up somewhere!
Depends on when in June you'll be there...I might be able to meet up too... But I'm due June 12th. You may have to come see the LL instead ;-)
Glad the appt went pretty well! My BFF had placenta previa with her second and it resolved itself in a few weeks as well, so hopefully you have the same luck.
They never told us to look away at ours! The tech said, "Oh good, one less thing I have to look for" when DH told her. DH swears he saw boy parts...I swear I saw nothing and that the tech wasn't even in that area much. haha. It's fun to guess though!! I'm happy you stayed Team Green with me!! :-)
Good job staying strong! Being surprised is so much fun! When we went for an u/s for an unusual heartbeat at 16 weeks the tech said she could tell what the sex was immediately and we have a little boy so you might be right. Rusty and I both really felt it was a boy. So much so that we didn't talk about girl names really at all.
I have also heard that they can tell girls right away also. So there is still a chance that your little bean is a precious little girl! You should try the ring test to see what it says. Rusty and I did it separate of each other and it said boy both times. We enjoy stupid stuff like that though.
Hopefully everything will fix itself. The good news is that you will get to see your little one more often!
I'm so happy to hear that everything was totally great at your scan after that first fiasco.
They didn't originally tell us Mackenzie's sex and when we asked she went back to look and told us within 5 seconds so you still never know!
