MGM Grand

I know another Vegas post...but a friend and I decided to stay at MGM.  Anyone stay there?? Pros or Cons..I'm just curious.  We got a good deal so I was pretty excited

Re: MGM Grand

  • I've stayed there twice.

Pros: Hotel is nice and kept up very well. Pool is great. Lots of restrarunts.

Cons: The hotel is soooo large it takes a long time to get to the pool, restrarunts and outside to the cabs or strip.  Another con is that it's at one end of the strip so to go to other places on the strip you do a lot of walking.

  • Adding to the previous replies, it is a great place for the younger, party-type crowd--singles and couples. The pool scene is awesome when in season and there are lots of good food options. However, the Buffet was a bit mediocre for the price.

  • The hotel is HUGE, one of the top 5 largest in the world - way too big for me.  However, I've always heard good things from people that have stayed there, especially about the pool - it just might take you 20-30 minutes to get back to your room if you forget anything.  They are undergoing a massive renovation and claim not to be booking the floor undergoing construction or those above/below it, but I would double-check before you book anything.

  • I've only been to Vegas once, and that's where I stayed. I liked it.

We didn't have any interest in clubbing so that didn't factor into our decision. We got a meal voucher and used it for their breakfast buffet the morning we left, and we were not at all impressed (our best buffet experience was at Rio). We didn't have much of a problem walking on the Strip from MGM ... we used the all-day bus pass ($5pp when we were there) to get to a few places, including the Freemont Street light show.

We've stayed in a standard room before. I wasn't that impressed, but it was free, so whatever. lol

We're staying in a one bedroom suite next week and I'm hoping that it's much better. It's one of the newly renovated rooms, so it should be alright.

The hotel itself isn't bad. I never really realized how big it was until everyone here brought it up, but they're right when I think about it. It's massive.

I love, love, love your siggy pic.  Wink
