Questions for Second Interview
What types of questions would you expect to be asked during a second interview in a group format with the three people you will be "answering" to? This is for a part-time administrative assistant position and all but one of the people coming in are older than me. This is my first time on the interviewer side of the table and I'm not sure what types of questions would be appropriate.
Thanks!
Re: Questions for Second Interview
I don't see why age matters.
Expect the same questions you would from the first round, especially if they are different people.
Unfortunately, the person previously in the position was older than me and had a lot of difficulty taking direction from someone younger. We are hoping that by bringing a new person in with a clear picture of hierarchy we will avoid these issues again.
Be sure to formulate interview questions that will address it then. But I also think you were lucky enough to find that one, and that the majority of people aren't like that.
ETA. I thought you were asking this as a job seeker, not an interviewer. So things now make more sense!
I am an assistant manager and have staff older and younger than me. The younger staff is great! The older staff doesn't love to take direction from me. I get where you are coming from so good luck with the new employee.
I don't know that it would be appropriate to ask the candidates if they would be comfortable taking direction from a younger boss as I think it could cross into age discrimination. Maybe just ask how the handled situations where they didn't see eye-to-eye with a previous boss.
I'm not sure the type of questions that were asked during the first interview, but I would definitely lean towards behavior-based questions if they haven't already been asked. Also, since it's the second interview, you know that you at least see some deeming qualities in the candidates. Maybe try to get to know their personalities.
